Now there's some true science fiction... Casper Van Dien saving the world.
Hey does Doom count? I mean... not that I've seen it, but a friend was saying. or Mega-Marines. Last edited by Hicks_Royel; 09-03-2008 at 12:26 AM.. |

But the Predator hasto be formidable, and the fact that he dispatches an elite unit makes him a dangerous and worthy adversary. If Hawkins had simply turned around and shot the damn lizard before killing a single one of Dutch's men, what fun would that have been? I don't think these soldiers or the ones in Aliens are depicted as buffoons--they're just outmatched. Even Arnold was outmatched--he just got lucky. The adversary in any flick has to be the greater warrior or there'd be no conflict.

I have the highest respect for our armed forces and wish they would be praised more often than they are.
I guess it wouldn't be cool to show what a combat engineer does in a movie, ya know, like destroying mines with a giant rope of exsplosives fired from a tank... Lets see Shea navigate his way through a minefield, hehe , pass the popcorn. |

There have been a few movies that show the military taking care of business...
Executive Decision. Air Force One. Patriot Games. A really good one is a little film called Toy Soldiers. The military took out a bunch of terrorists in that one. (Of course with help from the kids... lol. But they weren't in the attack helos.) I think the cliché Hollywood is trying to portrait is that the heroes are sometimes the common man, the everybody. Look at Star Wars IV, the big bad Death Star taken out by a farm boy. Not always the heavily trained, expertly armed and often over confidant troops.

I like this thread, I have been searching for just the right figures to add to my Joeverse. There are a few cool figures out there to add to the cobra legions and provide an interesting and more challenging opponent for my joes. A Hulk, or Abomination. The Brute of Halo 3, or at TRU I found some signs of the zodiac figures that look pretty cool, but I haven't bought any yet. any suggestions? Last edited by lt.greenshirt; 09-03-2008 at 09:08 AM.. |

[QUOTE lt.greenshirt "And don't forget about Will Smith, he has taken out aliens, robots, and those zombie/diseased New Yorkers. (MIB, iROBOT, I AM LEGEND)."]
Funny. Will Smith was a zombie-butt-kicking soldier in I AM LEGEND. An alien-butt-kickng airman in ID4.
