I was wondering if people had any special tricks on how to open a GI Joe single card without wrecking the card and plastic too badly. I use a utility knife and slowly cut & trace the plastics outer edge with the tip of the knife. Then on the right side of the plastic I cut just under the plastic from top to bottom. I then peel back the plastic. The first score around the entire plastic helps the paper not to rip out into the card. The tearing keeps within the plastic boundary. It's not perfect but it beats just ripping it open. How do you do it?
I was also wondering if people who open their cards keep the cards and packaging? I would think a figure would be worth more with the card and packaging then with out it. Of coarse it wont be worth as much as a sealed card but more then a loose figure with no card. So, is that true? Better to keep the card and packaging? |

I just use a box cutter and slit underneath the bubble. I haven't ruined a card yet.
I keep the cards but not the bubbles. I store the cards in one of the Hasbro case boxes. It holds a ton of cards and doesn't take up any space since it is only as wide and tall as the figure card.

Same here, I use a pocket knife and slice the bubbles off so that there's no edge sticking out. This way I can store more and stack them up like baseball cards. I do this with all my Star Wars & Joe figures.

I use a box cutter and completely cut off the bubble. I use the bubble to mix paints for customs. I store the full backs in acid-free page protectors with reinforced 3-ring holes so I can store them in a huge binder my wife made for me. It's black leather and has an embroidered Cobra emblem on the front.

I rip mine open like I did when I was a kid. The anticipation kills me and I have to get them out as fast as possible.
Added a pic of some of my 25th filecard stack.

I'm just a simple guy, I carefully rip the bubble off the card. Rarely do I rip more than a half centimeter of the picture, and even then you can still see what it should look like.
