I was born is 1974, I saw my first Joe's in 1983 and told my mom how much I would like to have them. I remember my mom's reaction because she was actually excited that she had something to get me that she new I wanted. I guess I must have been hard to buy for at the time. So, I got my first Joe's Christmas of 83, got a Vamp with Whirlwind and some single Joes in the stockings. I also got some other Joe toys from relatives that year. And that’s how it began.
I got out around the end of 1985. I was getting too old to play with toys and the toy line was getting away from the army feel and into more SiFi weird stuff which really turned me off. And still does. 82 to 85 I feel are the best years for Joe toys, at least for the vehicles. Just got back into collecting this past spring with the new 25th line. Still have 85% to 90% of all my old Joes as well. I now play with my 3-1/2 year old son. Good times then and good times now. Yo Joe!!! Last edited by Gatchaman; 09-28-2008 at 06:39 AM.. |

I loved the cartoon as a kid, then started collecting the comics which I thought were even better. I had tons of figures and vehicles from the original ARAH line in the 80's then sold my whole collection when I got "too old to play with toys."
Now I collect the 25th/Modern Era line and have no plans on getting the original figures from the 80's. However, I would love to find a Terror Drome. |

I've been lurking on this site for almost a year now, but I had to jump in on this thread.
Like a lot of "tankers", I've been a fan since 1982. I got my first figures, a Cobra Officer and Short-Fuze, in a pre-school gift exchange. I had been into Star Wars up until then, but once I got those two, I was hooked. I collected up until 1992 and picked up my collecting after I graduated from college in 2001. I've been collecting 3 3/4 figures ever since. |

I don't recall who my first Joe(s) was, but I recall playing with Deep Six and the SHARC.. It's my earliest memory of anything Joe, and leave it to me to have - perhaps - my first Joe be the worst in articulation. But as a kid, the floating and sinking feature was tits. What I do know that it was a love affair meant to last a lifetime. It was cemented the first time I laid my eyes on Duke in the Sear Christmas catalog. SInce then I've been hooked line and sinker.
