I touched upon some of this in the filecards thread...
I vividly remember buying the Jump jet-pack set and most of the original '82 figures. I kept them all in the black collectors case. I remember playing with my APC in the tub. I remember watching the original mini-series... I remember getting the GI Joe headquaters for Christman and playing with my Skystriker outside. I remember my step-father hiding the Flagg in his room on Christmas morning so I'd be suprised after I opened the rest of my presents. It took up half my room and soon moved back into it's box and then the attic. I remember discovering that by taking the screw out of my Joe's back I could creat new Joes. I remember my parents yelling at me for taking my toys apart. I remember getting "too old" to play with my Joe's and I remember missing their company. I'm a bit out of touch with the newer comics and figures. I stopped collecting Joes in '89 I guess. Didn't pay much attention through my teenage years once I found music and girls. I've kept my love for GI Joe all my life though, and when I saw the 25th line it brought back all the memories of days spent in the backyard or in the dunes at the beach. The best days of my life I'd say. GI Joe was the most important thing to me back then and now I feel I've come full circle. I once again get that heavy heartbeat when I get to the toy isle and see that logo! So now I'm in the process of catching up on past comics and updating my knowledge of the Joe universe. I have a good friend that is a decade younger than me who collects vintage ARAH Joes and I love helping him and sharing my knowledge (that I can't believe I retained!) of accessories and vehicles and Joe names. One of the reasons I was facinated with Joes and the Military in general was that my old man was a Vietnam vet and he was my hero. |

I was born with the series and remember my 7 first epiosdes: The Revenge of Cobra, Ninja Holiday, G.I. Joe and the Golden Fleece, Nightmare Assault from (Sunbow) and United We Stand, Pigskin Commandos, Injustice and the Cobra Way from (Dic) they were on the same Channel but different time Schedule. I also remember my first toys General Hawk, Beachhead, Cpt Grid-Iron, Iceberg, Gung-Ho, Cobra Commander, Firefly, Zartan, Zandar & Serpentor. I have Loved the Series from the first time same for the toys. And now the 25th wich are much more Cooler.

Just about as long as I can recall. I suppose I was given my first figure in '85 or '86 (Low-Light and then FLint) and then saved up every dime from mowing lawns and scowered garage sales in order to get the figures I wanted from the previous years. And then I never stopped collecting. I've collected everything since. So that's well over 20 years now.

I was born in 83' but I have two much older brothers (8 & 6 years older) They were into joe and SW so I'd say I've been a fan since I was 3 in 86'! Those are my first memories watching the cartoon and playing with the figures. I stayed a fan and made a big come back in 96'-97' and learned I could buy old joes off the internet from some store in Alambama. I got lots of figures then including all my favorites from the cartoon that I never had the chance to get. I then starting tape trading/buying every single cartoon episode and buying all the comics in lots from various auction sites (before ebay was there) I stayed obsesed until summer 99' but once I went into grade 11 I pretty muched stop. Started spending most of my money of weed and liquor like most 16 year olds do lol. I slowed down all fan boyness by this point but when they anounced the new comic I subsribed to the mini series and bought the nest 7 or so issues from the stand and quit. As soon as the 25th line was announced I got back on board and have boughten most of the 25th figures and just in the past few weeks I've been searching ebay to fill in the gaps of my RAH collection. Thats my joe story.

Since 1982 Baby! I was Seven at the time and I never missed an episode or a comic book.
My First Figure was Clutch and the Vamp. I thought it was so cool that the vehicle actually came with a figure, unlike the SW toys. Wish I could relive those days... oh yeah, I'm trying to do that now. LOL. Yo Joe!

u guys are all extra hardcore. i'm new to gi joe since the 25th line.
the only joes i ever owned were the street fighter joes when i was a kid. i'm not sure what year i owned them, but i played with them all the time along with some of my marvel toys. i never had any vehicles or anything. i get a big kick out of modern era joes and a few other lines as well. i'm not sure why, since that nostalgia factor most of you have is not there. it's cool hearing your stories though.
