So I've noticed that a lot tankers on this site have wives or girlfriends that support and even share in their hobby, which is pretty cool, but I was wondering how many closet Joe collectors are out there and if they had any interesting stories about getting caught or dumped by someone that found their secret Joe porn. I personally keep my carded figures stashed in a cardboard comic case in the back of the closest.
Well one day when I had gotten a delivery for some new figures and had them spread out on the floor, my girlfriend knocked at the door. She was supposed to be in class but had gotten out early and decided to stop by and see if I wanted to go out for lunch. I had to scramble like mad, but careful not to bend or damage any of the cards while scooping them up and putting them in the closet. I thought she might key the lock and come in at anytime, so my heart was racing and when I finally answered the door all sweaty and nervous she thought I had been on the internet surfing porn. She simply would not understand this hobby. Seriously, it would be less harmful for me to get caught with a box of gay midget donkey porn than a box of Joes--this would just weird her out. |

I know lots of women that collect comics, and figures. My wife is however not one but she thinks its "cute" that I do. So just let her know and maybe she would be wicked cool about it.

Don't ask, don't tell!
You should be afraid. Nothing scares off women more than a grown ass man sitting in his room drooling over toys. You said they were carded, so that's even worse. You know, if you just go that one step and set them free, they will be easier to hide next time you decide to lay out a bunch of toys on the floor to stare at. Or you can just be honest and let her know collecting action figures is one of your hobbies. I never had a problem with that, but to me, how can she like you for you, if she doesn't even know certain aspects of who you are and what you do? Hiding stuff just seems creepy. I'm not saying you are, but you may be, I don't know, and neither does your woman!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! =P Here's a video for you Last edited by Dream; 08-22-2008 at 11:07 AM.. |

I knew my wife was the one when I finally showed her my toy room when we were dating and she looked at the entire room full of action figures and saw my Deadpool marvel legend and said holy crap that guy is cool. A tear came to my eye, I almost proposed on the spot.

My wife just called me from Wal-Mart about an hour ago asking if I had the Snake-Eyes Commando figure and the Copperhead/Shipwreck pack. Gotta love her.
If your relationship gets moving toward the more serious side of things, you'd better be sure you let her know what you collect before you get married. Surprising her with a Joe collecting hobby would NOT be a good idea. I made sure my wife knew I was a collector before we got married and she was cool with it. I'm pretty sure she thinks I have too much stuff but she has been WAAAAY supportive of it becuase she knows how passionate about it I am. She even bought me the FLAGG for my college graduation gift. |

This is a real frightening concept...
If you ever want a relationship to go beyond casual dating, you need to be honest with her. Starting out by hiding things leads to a very long and winding road. It also leads to being dishonest about your finances with her, and that is one of the biggest issues most couples face... |
