I'm thinking I "may" try to produce a Duke costume this year. Of course that is if I deciede to spend the money. I'm guessing I could get the boots and pants easily at a Army/Navy store. What about the shirt/jacket? Could I find it the right color? And if not, how could I change the color? Also what time period would be best for the boots, etc? Example:US boots from Korean war.

I think you could find the right colors, don't give up, it took me over a year to complete my Cobra Commander costume.

Well, the shirt you could use a US Marine khaki dress shirt without the insignia. It might be a little too much polyester though. But you could roll up the sleeves and take out the creases.
The belt looks like a tan web belt. The belt without a buckle should be less than $10. I'd like to see the costume if you decide on it. |

ooh, a halloween discussion!
this year my son (12) and i are going as characters based from the movie "the warriors". im going as a baseball fury and he, a titular warrior. both costumes primarily came from the local goodwill. i got a gaudy pair of white pants with blue pinstripes and a white dress shirt with blue pinstripes and he got a black leather vest. all for about $12. i cut the sleeves to make the longsleeve shirt shortsleeved and burned holes in it. using a three-quartersleeved tshirt under it with the pants its pretty much looking like a baseball uniform. black spraypainted tennis shoes for cleats and a fake bat from TRU along with a white spray painted cap. the logo on the back of the "jersey" is orange felt with a sharpie-drawn logo. my idea was that despite the uniforms in the movie, a gang would have to steal and create their own "uniforms", so the hand drawn and hodgepodge clothes make it more realistic. a little makeup halloween night and im done. for my son's costume, we spray painted the vest a deep red, and i drew and painted the warriors logo on the back. a pair of jeans, some hair gel, and some of my spiked wristbands and studs and hes done. i love halloween. making costumes is FUN FUN FUN. heres my costume from a few years ago. cost all of about $10 for the stuff i didnt already have. went over bigtime...i had people, teens and adults (mostly women) as well as younger kids, avoiding me. as much as crossing to the other side when they saw me. IT WAS A RIOT OF A TIME! Last edited by Gung.Heaux; 07-20-2008 at 01:59 PM.. |

. . .and by the way, I did not say, ". . .braaaiinnnsss. . .,"b/c I was a Romero zombie, not a Return of a Living Dead joker. It was more grunts and growls. (sorry to contribute to the hijacking of your thread, Dinobot) |

Cap, I think you should have no problem finding a shirt. As mentioned, a Marine shirt would work, but if not...try finding a carhart shirt ;)

Target has a nice tanned button down that even has rolled up sleeves. I bought it for my Duke costume this year, and it's perfect. I've seen it at every target I've been to in the last month.
