When the 25th Anniversary series first started, it was great. The box sets was brilliant and than even better Hasbro started releasing individually carded figures for about $6.00 each. They were all great homages to their 80's counterpart. Than the comic 2-packs came out and they started out horrible and then made a slight comeback with some nice figures.
Now, Hasbro is releasing a bunch of multi-packs with maybe one or two worthy figures, the single packs have gone up to about $7.00 a figure and Hasbro seems to be doing too many repaints/retools that are half-assed. What is the point of the comic 2-packs now when you get one Iron Grenadier and a repainted Destro that most people don't want/need anyway? Now, if I want a Quick Kick (which I do) I have to buy a multi pack full of repaints to get the one figure that deserves his own single carded version anyways along with such other characters such as the Iron Grenadier, Tripwire and especially Lt. Falcon. Hasbro is really starting to milk the fans of G.I.Joe and I for one am sick of it. This was once the most beloved relaunch ever and now it is turning into a terrible series of sloppy repaints and retools. Hasbro should just stick with single carded figures and let the fans decide who they want to buy instead of these silly multi-packs. Oh, and the price hike is unjust. These figures (even in today's economy) do not justify being more than $5.99 and if they must be then stop the lazy retools and put some excitement back into this line. This was once the series I looked most forward to getting. Now, I am weening away from it and putting my hard earned money into other lines that haven't already jumped the shark after less than 2 short years. It's a shame. |

Yeah, but you gotta admit, from a business standpoint... they've really got it figured out. Look around the toy aisle... you see anything else flying off the shelves this fast?

If repaints means the continuation of the line then that's fine with me. It helps bring the money in to Hasbro and they can work on new molds and keep producing figs that people want and maybe some that aren't so wanted.

Of course I would like to see less repaints. I think most of us would. However, repaints and parts reuse is just a fact of Joe life. The good ol' days of the 80's are gone. If I have to endure a Cobra Commander or Snake Eyes repaint in every wave in order to get other new figures, then so be it. I'd rather have a line with a lot of great figures and a lot of repaints/retools then no line at all.

You do realize that, in order for you to buy it off of ebay, its already been sold, thus supporting Hasbro's scheme?
