I'm 32, I started collecting in 84 and continued collecting until 1990. I had around a 100 figures in the end. Like a dumb ass I sold them at a flee market in 1991. I use to save the dollar or two my grandparent's would give me, and collect can's etc. to buy my Joe's - it helped that they where so cheap back then.

20. And honestly, I think that it's interesting how many of you are surprised that those my age or younger are too young to have gotten into Joes because in my opinion the coolest Joes ever made came out when we were kids. I think many of the Battle corps and eco warrior Joes were the coolest of all because they had great detail and also, like someone mentioned before, their articulation was far superior in my opinion to the 25th Joes in terms of playability. But I do collect the 25th because of their higher detail and how cool they look displayed.
Hmmm lameness aside, nice work recognizing the 25th style for what it is, a cheaper easier to make product.

I'm 24 and I've been collecting G. I. Joes since I was 2. I still remember my first four figures b/c my Dad said that they were his and I confiscated them one day and he just started buying me more and more from there.
My first 4 figures were: 1985 Crimson Guard 1985 Eel 1985 Footloose 1986 Lifeline

Just turned 34 yesterday. I remember me (at age 7) and my younger (age 4) brother's first figures were straight arms and we got them for Christmas 1982: Scarlett, Flash, Short Fuze, Cobra Enemy, Grand Slam, and Steeler. We got the RAM, HAL and MOBAT.
Our Cobra dude had Star Wars bad guys as his pals. Which somehow made sense because Flash and Grand Slam used laser weapons LOL |
