first off i put this in the general discusion because i am not trying to sell anything just thaught i would share some feelings i had about my dilema.
i am deciding wether or not to sell my entire 25th line because i collect so much more RAH then i do 25th or anyway i enjoy rah more. i dont want to regret it down the road but i just want more rah stuff right now and its getting to hard to afford both rah and 25th. so im kinda stuck right now on what to do. i keep all my 25th figs moc and on my wall. and i collect rah loose and i have about a dozen moc figs. i know the 25th line is coming to a break soon so it will give me time to save some money but i could really use the extra cash. what would you do? |

Well right now i am focusing only on the 25th line. When or if the line ends, i will continue to add to my vintage collection. I found out it is to expensive to collect both at once so i focus on the current, easy to find joes and then i will try to find the vintage figures i want...

I would sell it, wait until the line cools off and the figures go down in price, and then buy the ones you want back for less than what you sold them for. I predict that these figures won't be worth a damn in a couple years. Much as I love these figures, they're just the flavor of the week right now for a lot of collectors that get whatever is "hot" at a given time.

It all depends, in the end, what you really want to do. It's not easy to decide and no matter what you decide there will probably always be times when you doubt your choice. Both lines are great for varying reasons but if you get more enjoyment out of the vintage stuff then you should concentrate on that.
There's no easy decision maker for this. I've been down this path and will probably face it again soon as I need to decide on what I want to collect more. In your case, you need to look at both collections and go with your heart. If you can do without your 25th stuff and be happy with collecting just the vintage then go that way. You could just keep a couple special pieces from the newer stuff as well and know that if you decide to sell it it will probably go to someone who loves Joes as much as you. |

I don't understand the concept of collecting something just to turn around and sell it all.

well its not about selling it all, its just i only make so much money and i go to a university and i pay for school all by myself with the help of some finacial aid but on top of bills and collecting both lines i am going to be a very broke guy.
if i could i would keep both, but right now its just not practical. i mean i could just stop collecting for awhile and save some money but knowing myself it wont happen, ill just keep spending money because i love gijoes too much. |

Don't sell. The fact that your "torn" over what to do is answer enough right there. Just put 'em away and stop getting more (you can always play the catch up game later) I just garage-sold (?) the first 4 or 5 series of Simpsons figures + some houses for $20 (kept the mob guys though... and Willie/Moe) because I know I'm never going to look back and think 'dang... that was stupid' Didn't even have to think about it... When you get to that point, let 'em go... but it doesn't sound like you're there...

Or you could work out your priorities and finances to better determine what you can spend for the month.
It also help to monitor your assets and liabilities. Cut down on the things you don't want. |
