so lately ive been really bored with joe collecting not saying im not into it anymore im just saying i feel like its taking all my money and i have nothing else to show for it except joes. ive been slacking on getting alot of things done, and i dont do as many things as i use to. it seems like everytime i get on ebay even though theres tons of joes to look for, i feel like ive seen it all.
mabe im just in a weird mood but i deffinetly need a break. with so much coming out on top of collecting rah, ive been really broke, lol. so i think im just gonna take a break. anyone ever feel like this. i feel like my whole life just revolves around joes. i was all about tricking my car out before i got back into collecting and my cadillac has been broke down for almost a year now, haha which is crazy to think about, seeing as for as much money ive spent on joes i could of had it fixed a few times. i even sold my rims to buy more joes because having dubs just didnt seem practical anymore. exspcially since i live in michigan and dont get to rock them for very long. i only have one friend who collects joes beside me and i dont really kick it with none of my other friends very much. its weird how joes can kinda take over your life. i think ive just got really carried away with it and it is deffinetly time to relax and do some other stuff with my life i need to get done... sorry to ramble just bored with things lately and thaught id share. |

So what are you trying to say? Are you overwhelmed by all the new Joes coming out?

I was burnt out, but then I found wave 9 and I'm pretty stoked again. I was taken aback that the 7 figures I got cost me $50 bucks, but now that I'm being more selective with what I buy (only two snow serpents and bats) I think I'll be able to manage. The figures in this wave were incredible, and if I concentrate on customizing, I think it should have my interest for a while, if not as big a hold on my wallet.

yup. Found I was buying 'em just to buy 'em, not because I wanted someone. Cleared my head enough to stop buying/hunting down waves and just get the 1 or 2 per wave that I actually like... (But I did pre-order wave 10 just to make sure I get Mutt and Wraith... the rest will go in the plastic toy bin) and again, wave 11... Cobra Flint about does it for me and I can happily leave everyone else behind... I'm pretty much focusing on just the childhood favorites anymore (Flint qualifies even if he is in a Cobra costume)

I definitely know how you feel, but for me it's Star Wars figures that I've become burned out on. I'm only interested in SW characters based on the original trilogy and they're running out of new action figures to make of those. Just the fact that they actually made the six-breasted fat dancer shows that their choices are getting slim. Darth Vader with a removable helmet was always a dream figure for me when I was a kid and Hasbro has already made five versions of that Vader figure in the last 10 years. So it just feels like everything has already been done over and over again and the all-new figures are less and less interesting.
That's actually the main reason that I've gotten back into collecting Joes so much. I'm burned out on Star Wars and just want to focus on something different. I actually liked GI Joe better as a kid and I have more fond memories of playing with GI Joe figures back then since I had more of them. My parents never liked the sci-fi nature of Star Wars and GI Joe was just far enough within the boundaries of reality to be acceptable. So I'm actually enjoying myself more now with collecting Joes than I have over the last 9 years or so of collecting Star Wars figures. Sure there aren't that many figures coming out, but that's kind of refreshing compared to the frenetic pace of Star Wars collecting during times like these with a new movie coming out. But then again, I've only been collecting Joes for the last few months and the last time I was this heavily into GI Joe was 1986. So it's still all fresh and new to me. Maybe in a couple of years, I'll feel the same as the OP and be ready to call it quits. |

Never been burnt out, but there were times I wish I had more money!
I don't really go off on my joe buying as I would like to. I just mainly buy the stuff I like, and that's about it. I'm not one of the people who have to have the newest thing before anyone else or even the day it hits. If I get it, then that's funky, if not, then I'll pick it up eventually. |
