Who should play Duke in the G.I. Joe Live Action Movie?
My vote is for Daniel Craig! If this guy can pull off an American Accent he would be perfect for the role. He was great in Casino Royale.

How about Matt Damon? I was never a fan until the last few years. He hasn't been in a bad movie in years

I can't go with that because of Team America World Police. Every time I see him I can't take him seriously after watching that film.

Actually, I think he might be better as Hawk. Maybe Viggo Mortesen as Duke, but I think I will think of someone else better later.

I don't see Daniel Craig doing a competing action franchise; he's Bond. Besides, not sure about his accent, though he is a fine actor.
Personally, and I said this on another thread, I'd love to see Nathan Filion take a crack. He's big and all-american seeming (even though he's Canadian) he's a fine actor, with range and depth. He'd just need to be a little more blonde, which is easily done.

I still say it's more important that the actor who plays Duke...or ANY role in the movie...be able to create a believable, memorable character, rather than meet a specific set of physical characteristics. Yes, it'd be nice to have a 6'2" blonde haired, blue-eyed all-american guy who was ALSO a good actor...but if there isn't that guy, well, contact lenses, wigs, hair dye...these are basic tools of movie make-up.
Also, I think Duke SHOULD be a little bit old and worn..you don't get to E-8, or wherever the movie will have him, as a kid.

you're right.
probably 31 - 34 year-old, not to "weathered" looking. but not Vigo... that dude is Aragon, and that is that. that's like casting Daniel Radcliffe as anyone other than Harry Potter. Like casting Tobey Maguire as anyone other than Peter Parker....you can't see them as anyone else, you won't take it seriously. like someone said, i'd rather a no name actor....i bet they could find someone that is the spittin' image of what Duke should look like, think about it. I don't know why but i get a visual of Howie Long, probably because of his crew cut style do..
Plus he's 47, maybe a bit too stalky but he's got the military look down. He looks like a leader.... Can he act? Not sure... Last edited by ShadoViper; 10-01-2007 at 08:49 PM.. |

No. No, he really cannot. Dollar for the Dead Firestorm Broken Arrow 3000 Miles to Graceland These are the cream of his imdb resume. The man is not an actor. I'd hate it if he was cast as Duke...and this is tough, given that he and I share an Alma Mater (Villanova) so if anything, I ought to be biased FOR him. Great D lineman. Decent sportscaster. Not an actor.
