Wild Weasel showed that it could perform well in a dogfight, when he and Ace fought to a draw in one issue.

Agreed. Shakedown was a great read! One of the best. Keep in mind that (edit: despite the realistic elements added) in no way was it meant to simulate the real thing though. That particular issue took some bizarre artistic liberties (smokey busters, etcetera.).

LOVE the Rattler! Ace and WW spent hours dogfighting in my room.
Anyone know it's toy history? I seem to recall the Animated MASS DEVICE eps having a plane that looked very close to the then unreleased Rattler. Did Hasbro take its cue from the show? I seem to think they did that with Baroness as well. |

It was hard to choose between the Rattler and the Firebat.
I love the look of the Firebat, but the Rattler is the classic Cobra jet. Loved the dogfight in Marvel's issue 33 of GI Joe. But I voted for the Firebat... looks like a shuttlecraft, yet it's a fighter armed to the teeth.

I agree as well, but the thing that irritated me the most was the inaccuracies of drawing the skystriker, in some panels it looked like an F-15, in some, an F-14, in others, a hybrid of both. I am very particular on accuracy, and planes. |

Have to go with the Rattler. It was my first vehicle from the line. Got the Rattler, Crimson Guard, Spirit, Dusty, and Duke at a 3D store and that started my Joe journey. The Night Raven would be my second choice.
