While I DO think that the Skystriker is a really neat-lookin' playset and all... I'm really gonna have to side and go with the era that impacted me the most as a kid! And so with that being said...
For me, it's definitely the CONQUEST X-30!! And the ironic thing was, was that I never even had this vehicle as a kid neither, so I'm purely basing my choice and selection completely on nostalgia! The cartoons really had me "hook and sinker," as the original hit series that came on every afternoon when I got home from school, had a lot of influence in my GIJOE exposure. I really miss those daysss... hehe |

I was Always a huge fan of F-14, thus making the Skysytiker a favorite, until i heard of the Aurora...What is the Aurora you might ask , well take a look at it and learn a little about it, then look at the Phantom X-19...Did the 1980's toy designers get jobs with Lockheed...

Just click on 2000 - 2010 and scroll to the bottom Link http://www.fighter-planes.com/ Were you saying the the Phantom X-19 is based on the Aurora? Because it's actually based on an "F-19" concept/speculation aircraft that was sensationalized by Popular Mechanics, Testors, and Tom Clancy. http://www.fantastic-plastic.com/TES...LTH%20PAGE.htm http://www.oficinamodelismo.com.br/imagens/om1914.jpg At the time, we all thought this was what the Stealth fighter looked like. And Hasbro ran with it. -PJ |

Phantom here. It's apperances in the comics are very elusive. Ghostrider (they never say his name due to copyrights) just comes sweeping in and saves the day several times.
It functions sort of like a guardian angel, an untouchable force that Cobra has no chance of beating. I always liked this plane for the vast superiority it represented.

much as i loved the Phantom as a kid, i gotta give it to the Conquest. Just all-around awesomesauce (i'd never scene any of the later release deco's before, pretty cool)
That said, the Ghoststrikers pretty cool, never saw that before either: a re-release with a very realistic paintjob would be nice for a 25th Anniversary fighter.

It was cool too, because prior to joining the joe team, Ace had already flown the F-16, which the Ghoststriker was a version of. The Conquest was great too, it has the most originality of all the joe jets. I like how it was different than the X-29 despite being influenced by it. The best color schemes were the original and the Python Patrol version. It reminds me of the F/A-18, being a lightweight fighter and a single seater. I loved the Phantom, unfortunately my neighbor broke that and my precious Nightboomer when I was younger. |
