I'm trying to clean up some vehicles and need some advice. What do you guys use to remove the residue left after you remove old stickers? I tried alcohol and detergent with little to no success. Then I tried goo gone xtreme and it ruined the plastic.

Strange... Surgical spirit has always done the trick for me, with no need for any detergent.

I just cleaned up a Conquest X-30 with some Goo Gone and saw no ill effects on the plastic. Aside from the slight discoloration where the old sticker kept the plastic covered from the elements the plane looks very clean. How exactly was the plastic ruined and which vehicle were you cleaning with Goo Gone Xtreme? I'm not aware of anything beyond the regular strength Goo Gone...

If you use alcohol make sure its 91% isopropyl. I use this stuff to remove old labels and glue junk all the time.

I prefer to use gin. One for me, one for the sticker, one for me.... :-) Maybe it's something in the "extreme" goo-gone that's hurting the plastic as the standard stuff has always worked fine for me in the past. |
