So i was at my local target today, where i was able to find the new DVD packs witch i was very excited about. But as i was looking around i noticed things being way over priced their now. I know SW, Joes, and Indiana figures went up there, but i noticed power rangers, batman and hulk and everying is anyware from $3-$5 higher. I was just at walmart and TRU 20 minutes prior to this and i saw the Hulk figures for $9.99. Target now has the for $14.99. I took a picture with my phone to show you guys. Is everyones target raising the prices on everything is is it just mine?

I wish I had a Target to go to, and spend $14.99 on Hulk figures. In Hawaii there are no Target stores so we miss out on EVERY exclusive that Target gets. Further more, whatever prices you complain about are usually better than what can be found here, since in Hawaii places like Walmart seem to charge extra because they have to ship things here. Example, a Toys R Us battle pack sells for $24.99 on the website, and I bet if you went into a TRU store in California you would have a chance at finding one for $24.99. If you go into the only Toys R Us store in Hawaii, (that's right we only have one) it costs $27.99, plus tax. And I paid that because it's better than paying the shipping costs from the website.

To me, if its not the 25th stuff its all crap!
And now with the price hike to $7.99, I have no desire to go there anymore with the exception for the exclusives. |

Are you sure that Hulk figure was on the right peg? I only say this beacuse at Wal-Mart there is the regular 2 pack of Hulk buster troops for $9.99 and now there are two packs with a Hulk Buster troop and a Hulk figure for around $14.99 (There's also a crappy Bruce Banner with Hulk for this price point)
EDIT: in fact, after looking at the enlarged version of your picture, I see the tag says they're Deluxe figures and the two sets I mentioned are above and behind the regular two pack |

Target is the Starbucks of discount stores. Their philosophy is, if an idiot is willing to pay $5 for a cup of coffee then he will surely pay $2 - $3 more for an action figure.

Target does not cater to the same demographic as Wal-Mart. They're both discount department stores, so it seems natural to compare them. However, Wal-Mart caters to lower middle class and below, while Target caters to the upper middle class. That's why throughout most of their departments you will find higher quality goods. (A Target exclusive brand would be better than "Great Value"). In general, the employees would be clean and knowledgeable of their areas. The store itself would tend to be brightly lit and well-maintained. They also happen to donate a significant amount of their profits to local charities and schools. The above is a generalization, but considering the number of Targets and Wal-Marts I've visited from Central Florida all the way up to North Carolina, I am confident that the description holds. I would also say that if you are looking for a particular figure, $7.99 is nothing when you factor in time and gas. Does it make financial sense to drive a 100 mile radius or more searching for a figure at Wal-Mart just because your local Target has them for a dollar more? |

Can't comment on Target raising the prices of the 25th Joes, but those Hulk figures in question are the new Marvel Legends Fing Fang Foom build-a-figure series. The figures themselves are huge and the BAF is the biggest yet, standing near 15" tall! Hasbro announced the MSRP raise for this wave to $15 already. My guess is that it'll go back down to $10 after this wave.
The Target nearest my house had their reset completed and stocked (w/ the exception of the new Star Wars toys) last night so I picked up King Hulk and She-Hulk. King Hulk is just about the same size as the Onslaught BAF. He's about 8" tall and super heavy. Do I like paying $5 more? No, but after opening the 2 I bought yesterday I'd say the price justifies the product.
