why wouldnt I army build? I see troopers dangling from the pegs, I see vipers dangling from the pegs. Its not even an issue and no one should be afraid to post pictures of their armies. In fact here is one of my favorites of my army.

i think army builders, such as myself, are part of the success of this line. the more they sell, the more waves we see. better than taking them home to bay 'em. too bad i don't army build buzzers, i'd be a real happy collector.

Bad...

This is a really tough issue to break down. The following is all my humble new guy opinion. In the end I believe that excessive army building is a bad thing because it hurts fellow collectors.

Where does one draw the line? What about the folks who buy one to open and one to keep sealed? Or the folks who buy and then sell at a higher rate in online auctions? What about the folks who are buying for their small children with the hope that their children will grow up to like them? How is what any of these folks are doing any better or worse than army building dozens of the same character?

Issues like these are not easily solved, but that does not mean we should not try. In my humble new guy opinion I believe we should all put ourselves in our fellow collectors shoes every once in while and try to look at things from their perspective. When is too much simply too much?

When does collecting change from being a fun hobby to a highly competitive obessive compulsive behavioral disorder?

Having more than five to ten of the same figure seems a bit overboard to me.

This is simply my humble new guy opinion. Please do not take offense.

I love you all and I love HissTank.com - G.I. Joe Toy and Movie News and Discussion

Peace

for a new guy you exhibit some sincere thought and i for one appreciate your approach to the subject although i don't agree with you in general.

when is enough, enough? the answer is different for each of us and for no one to arbitrarily decide for someone else. it's that simple really in my opinion.

Armies are meant to have troops. Vipers, troopers etc, need to be displayed in multiples. In my opinion, any non individual figures look stupid displayed as a single. Non openers will never understand army building, just as I will never understand buying things and never opening them. The money I save by not caring about a black timber or yellow stalker will go to buy Cobra troops. In the end army building sells figures which help to keep the line going. Why is it any better to buy 2 of every figure to keep on card in hopes of reselling them later at a profit, than it is to buy a lot of figures, open them and enjoy them? I assume every one is having a hard time finding Vipers and Troopers, right? Otherwise this would not be an issue. It seems the figures who are hardest to find are not even the army builders, they are like Flash or Flint. No one makes an army of Flashes. Besides, it's a hell of a lot HARDER to find what you want when you army build. If you only want one of each figure, good for you, buy a case and you're done. Imagine trying to find 10 BATs! People who do not army build have nothing to complain about, it's easy as hell to get one of each figure. Don't blame other collectors if you are too cheap to pre-order online. I've accepted the fact that I will not have any Snow Serpents until the multi-packs come out in November. I have my 4 BATs on pre-order with BBTS, I don't expect to see them for months either. It is only difficult finding figures when you have to have them NOW. Pre-order and wait and you can have everything you want. What's the rush? Especially when you are just going to throw them in the closet until one day when you can take them out and sell your "complete" collection. No one who enjoys collecting these figures should EVER complain about some one else buying "too many". If it wasn't for army builders boosting the sales, this line may never have even gotten to this point. NEVER complain about people who's actions are in part ensuring that the figures you want continue to be made.

I'm a troop builder. I cap out at 20 or 25 for the most popular troops like Bats, Vipers, blue suits and CGuards. And 4-6 for officers.
