I plugged my zip code into this site Target Mobile Find in Store and it showed that my local target had "limited availability". The next nearest store showed "out of stock". I went to my local target and asked someone in toy's if they had 087-06-1686 in the back as I didn't find it on the shelf. They plugged the number into their scanner and it showed they didn't have any on the shelf or in the back. I went to an aisle scanner and plugged the number in myself and it read the same thing - no dice.
Is the online lookup incorrect or is it just saying that at some point my local target will have a "limited availability"? |

It says that usually when they have only 1-2 of an item. Their system updates once per day, overnight. so if they had one at close last night, and then sell it in the morning, the computer will still think that one is there till they close again, and the system is updated.

I don't know about the "limited quantity", but I do know that some of the Target stores are carrying the skystrikers while others are not. I called with the DPCI # and was informed by my local target that they were not going to carry that item, however there were three stores (all an hour away) which had them in stock. I ended up calling one of those stores, having the item held, then drove out for it.
When the best of the 80's Mass Device set was online, it used to show "limited quantity" for those at the the target an hour away. When I called to have them look at the item, find it, and hold it, they were not in the store or stock room, nor do I believe they ever were. Hope this info helped.

Hope this info helped. You have to remember, the DPCI isn't really for individual items. It's more for type of item in an individual line. All single packed Joes have the same number as do all the Alpha class vehicles. The Skystriker has it's own number because there aren't any other Joe items in it's price range |

thanks for the info guys. As another puzzler, I plugged in the DCPI for regular POC figures and it indicates my Target has plenty of stock. However, having just been there yesterday after work, there wasn't a single figure on the 4 GI JOE devoted pegs. (I bought the last two jungle vipers last week hoping it would prompt a resupply. the pegs were just as I had left them, empty)

Just did it the old fashioned way. I called and gave them the number and the lady said she had 3 on the shelves. (the guy yesterday mentioned they were getting a truck in that night, but he couldn't say if they would be on the truck).
Sooooo, for a couple weeks the online finder showed limited availablilty, but I just didn't have a chance to get out there until yesterday. I believe this overnight stock is the first they've gotten, so not sure why the online finder showed limited availability. I think a good ol fashion phone call is the best bet. |

I believe all of the DVD sets had the same DPCI number so you were probably just seeing stock of the other sets, not just the final one.

I scanned them to see if I could find out if there was more quantity in the back. The code came up unfound, so I asked the sales clerk who I have talked to several times and he told me that by scanning as unfound that indicates that this store was no longer going to carry these items. Any truth to this? I seem to remember other tankers claiming that this wave would not show and indicate at the registers.

it's my understanding (please confirm or deny if you can) that the online mobile search displays what is known at the close of business the previous day, while the "in store system" for the store your in updates in "near real time" but when they search surrounding stores that's based on what was in store at 8am.
the reason i believe there to be a difference is when i go to a target i go to a price scanner and manually enter the dcpi number for a sky striker and it will tell me if that store is showing any on the shelf or any in the back...i found one the other day and bought it and then went to guest services and asked them to search other stores for the same item...the lady at the counter mentioned that they didn't have anymore and the other stores as of that morning had 3. I do very much like that scanner machine as it will tell me what i want to know without having to flag down someone with a "god gun" a phone call works awesome too moreso than doing a search online at the moment, ill be curious if that will ever show "start of day quantity" for items when you do a search |

Items can be in the back room without being in location. When the item comes in, it gets scanned, so the computer knows it's arrived. If there is a lot of product that is going out for a reset, it may be simply placed on a pallet and put aside.
Back room locations are marked with letter/number designations. When the employee looks for an item, the LRT, the gun they carry, tells them it's in--for example--B3. The computer knows the item was in B3, because it was told. If a department is about to reset with a large amount of new product with a large number of new DPCIs, the department head might take all that merchandise, stack it on a pallet, and put it in an empty location without telling the computer. They don't need the computer to tell them where it is, because they know. The end result is that the items are simply boxes hidden among more boxes. There are three types of items not scanned into location in the back room: items that are legitimately not there, random items that were accidentally left unscanned, and items that were intentionally left unscanned to keep them from being taken to the floor. You're not going to get the first group of items, because they simply aren't there. You're not going to get the second, because it would take too long to find it (as in it won't be accomplished within a business day). You're not likely to get the third group of items because they've intentionally been hidden from the average employee. |

Went to Target at lunch and just as I was told, there were 3 sitting there on the shelf. I was happy to get one. Disappointed though that there were zero figures, even though I had bought the last two jungle vipers a week ago.
