I remember when this came out in 97. I wanted it but I then I when they replaced Breaker and Rock and Roll with Hawk/Roadblock hybrids I passed.

My question is does anyone know why Hasbro did this? Because on the back of the packages Breaker and Rock and Roll are still shown (in original form). And we know they still have breakers Communication gear.

I believe it was because they lost the molds, same reason CC was replaced with the Battle Armor Mold.

Also, if you look at the back of the box, it also shows that Flash is included. All the figures on the back are just vintage figures painted for the picture. If you look closely, one of the figures has a broken thumb and some of them are straight arm versions.

The molds were lost or sold off to other companies. Plus Hasbro lost the trademark to some of the characters names (that's why we have Sgt. Flash or Cpl. Breaker now).......if you've noticed some of the original GI JOE weapons, vehicles and figure molds have shown up in other lines (most being the cheapie dime store military figures)

The trademarks I know, but I didn't realize they painted old ones.. funny. I'm going to have to look a little closer at that. Pretty cool.

I guess that's why the vintage Snake Eyes V2 never showed up again either.
