I was always elaborate with my GI Joe's as far as making displays with them. But mine never saw dirt or sand or anything. There were always inside, unless I took them to school for show and tell or to a friends house.
I was one of those weird kids who always took care of my special toys. GI Joe was just too special to me to ever break them or make them dirty. As far as the $1.00 bag plastic army figures went I was crazy with them. I played in the mud and would and make sounds and blow up stuff just like Battle Boy. My mom would have killed me if she would have caught me with matches. So any of that stuff no way, except for 4th of July and I could fire crackers. After watching that video I feel like I need to go and play army now. I have heard of "Friday's" before but never saw any of their shows. I believe it was a little before my time. Kinda weird though I never saw any re-runs though. Great clip, I have been watching them all now. |

I was confined to my house for most of my childhood for health reasons, so my toys and books were the closest things to friends I had (sad, I know), so I learned to take especially good care of them at a young age.

Only once was that me. Summer 1986 my parents had just bought a new house that was just built. We didn't have grass yet and our lawn was covered with straw. We had just moved to the neighborhood and I didn't know anybody, so being bored one day (and already feeling too old for my Joe collection) I decided to torch some GI Joe. I chose the Slugger, Thunder and Firefly (no reason just random) and poured gasoline on them and watched them melt before my eyes. Well in doing this I caught fire to the straw and almost burned our garage down. Luckily nobody got hurt and my parents never found out. That was my first and last time being a pyro. Poor Firefly.............
