Did you ever like Serpentor when he was first introduced?

I was watching Teletoon Retro the other night, and Rise, Serpentor Rise was on, and it was cool and all, but I dunno, could be just me... but I never liked Serpentor and I still don't. I was Cobra Commander loyalist through and through and I hated seeing our coward upstaged by some test tube baby.

What did you think of him as kids?

I was into the comic version, and thought it was lame when they changed up the origin for the cartoon; a blank clone floating in a giant test tube was WAY cooler than the red blob of living monster slime... Also the comic didnt go all crazy with the This I command crap....and never liked how ALL of Cobra pretty much took Serpys side....(human, comic)
CC all the way

I didn't care for him as a kid. I still don't think of him as the leader of Cobra. But I like him a little more now.

Sure, I loved him. '85 and '86 were the big Joe years for me, so he was the man for his time and place. He fit right in there.

Serpentor is a great example of an awesome idea that was poorly executed. When I first heard about him & how Dr. Mindbender created him I was all for it. I raced out to find the toy. It was so damn cool. But then I saw how crappy the toy was & then saw him in the cartoon & I couldn't stand him after that. His outfit was goofy as hell & I couldn't stand the constant "THIS I COMMAND" crap.

Back then you could never find a Cobra Commander, or Snake-eyes.....

So he was a good substitute although he did look a little odd to me even as a kid.

I agree with both of you. I really liked the idea, but the finished product was too silly looking for me. He was definitely better in the comic than the cartoon.
