I've read lots of complaints about Walmart, Target, and Toys R Us. I'm collecting for my son. He's a bit too little to get Joes yet, but it's something we enjoy doing together and I know that when the old 80's cartoons are released on DVD he'll really get into it. I work at Walmart as a part time weekend job. I work in sporting goods, which in our Walmart is adjacent to the toy department.
Every weekend, before my shift I check for Joes, and almost every time, I'm disappointed to find the single pegs empty and the comic two packs crammed with ace/wild weasle and the dreadknoks. So to all those finding empty pegs over and over again, I feel your pain. I tell myself at least I'd be here anyway for work, so it isn't like I'm making special trips like some of you. Every once in a while I'm lucky enough to find something and slowly over time I've built a decent collection for my son. I know there are collectors in the area other than myself and once I even talked to a guy. I wanted to mention HissTank, but our toy department is always understaffed, and I had a line of customers waiting (most nights and weekends sporting goods also covers the toy department). The good thing about this is even though I'm not in the toy department, I can keep close tabs on the Joe inventory. I can tell you that the single Joes have been constantly on order since the line came out. When we finally get a case in, it all goes to the shelf, and the system orders more. We have NEVER had any Joe backstock other than the comic two packs. I have relayed this problem to management several times. Nothing has changed. I get the feeling that if the management at our store cared enough to make some noise at our warehouse, we could increase the frequency of our Joe order being filled instead of letting the same two Cobra Commanders and Buzzer collect dust on our pegs. They are far more concerned with items that have a higher margin like bikes and power wheels. If the day ever comes that we do end up with Joes in the back, I wouldn't hesitate to look for what a customer wants. I just wanted you all to know that despite all the lazy dullards working retail in america, you have at least one ally working on the inside. |

Got a buddy that works in the toy department. Apparently, his Mgr is more interested in the food deparment than Joes.

"Thanks man, America needs more people like you in retail and customer service!" quoted from Saboteur
Unfortunately, these qualifying people got replaced by un-trained, idiotic people. It is all boiled down to cheap labor. |

But isn't the problem more a matter of Hasbro under producing than Stores not ordering? Every time I check the Joes are always on order which means the store is doing their part. And every online retailer will tell you they constantly get short changed on their orders. Of course next year the shelves will be flooded with horrible movie toys which I won't be collecting.

I have basically been hearing two different things:
Hasbro is holding out on us, and is going to flood the market soon. or Hasbro has messed up distribution and production. I do not really care why the figures are difficult to find in certain places. I just want them to fix it. Damn it.

i am doing the same thing...collecting for my son. the most disheartening thing i find is the scalping, massive buying/hoarding some people do...I'm not looking to build armies of characters - just one of each kept nice for my kid...I hope you are able to find everything, thegame68, because i've resorted to buying online...the stores have nothing because the workers stink and the hoarders hoard...
