Hey OUTBACK, thx.
The Twins. A smile instantly comes to my face when I think of the fun I had playing Joe's with those two. Tying the string going high to low and then letting those guys go flying across the room on their hand rollers. COBRA!!!! |

Just now stumbled upon this thread (via the 25th collection thread). Have to say that is a great collection DAHUNTER. Like everyone else, it definitely brings back a lot of memories. I'm pretty sure I had at least 75-80% of those figures (and others) along with a ton of vehicles growing up.
I can vouch for those speaking about the "hay day" of G.I. Joe in toy stores during the 80's. It was a glorious sight to behold. Now if we can only get a fraction of that back. :\ It's good to know I am in company of those with similar reasons for being here and sharing their passion for all things Joe related. Here's to many more years my friends! |

Thx for the comments on my collection everyone.
It is so great to see others that have the same love and passion for Joes like I do. And I'm glad my pics bring back so many great nostalgic memories. I should do some action shots to really bring back those memories of playing with some of the greatest toys ever made. lt0078 - I hear you man. I've got a 5yr (soon to be 6) Son who's been drooling over my carded Joes. Now I've got for him a HUGE lot of 25th Joes to open for X-Mas. It's going to be AWESOME to see him go crazy with Joes the way I used to be. It should be some great times. |

Great collection, great thread.
I remember being in a Children's Palace in Minneapolis and having that same experience of awe and not being able to reach the upper pegs. You would try from your childlike point of view to see which ones were "out of reach" and if they were duplicates of the levels you could see and touch. My little brother and I would sometimes pool our money to get a vehicle, so we could play with it together, and also we could drool over the little product catalogs... Then we'd make a list of which ones we wanted by priority..since we had to save to come up with $3.14 that was critical to decide before you got in there and the awe effect swayed your mind. And I still remember my Aunt Marge taking us to a Kresge's in Michigan and buying us each a Zartan!! We didn't have to share! She even popped them in the freezer for us so they would change color. So cool! 1985 was a sweet year. Simpler times, we respected adults, and we loved Joes. Thankfully my sons 6 and 4 are in to Joes since I picked the older one a Cobra Mountain when he was 3. Yeah it's a little cheesy, but it's perfect if you're ages 4 to 6. Now I'm slowly leaking out vintage stuff for them to play with. Will they break stuff? Inevitably. But the look on their faces looks like a mirror reflection to mine in 1985. It's like seeing myself back in the day. (And my investment of $3.14 if it's still in active duty play today comes out to about 15 cents per year over the last 22.) Great pics, great thread. Thanks so much. |
