if so...ahahahahahh, dude i won't be able to stop laughing!! same for me. same figure same year....what a coincidence. they got way to out of control, you're right, with the neon colors and lame designs....plus it was 1989 i was into "girls" by that time man...lol '82 - '85/'86 bought (and played with) until the Nintendo came out, then it was a wrap. the best thing ever created was in my possession, it's all a blur from there until about 1991 (lol) ::handshake:: me & you are very much the same. |

after selling all my old vintage Star Wars, McFarlane Spawn, and everything else in between..i have started a vintage G.I. JOE collection again.
this time i will only be buying MINTY-crisp loose/complete's from 1982 -1989 , that's it. i got a few already, and i'm sure i can make that list in a few short years. wish me luck. OUTBACK |

...think about it. Very true. Really there is nothing better in the land of G.I. Joe then the 80's 3 3/4 line. Everything to come out after 1989 has just been a major disappointment for me. That is until the 25th Anniv. line came along. |

LOL. Who know's, whoever we pick for Red Ryder this year might be a Joe fan and we can hook that person up big time for X-Mas. |

Cool collection... I can recall going to K-Mart in 1985-1986 and seeing an entire wall of GI Joe figures for $1.99 each. (I got to buy two a week with my $5 allowance.) Then on the top shelf was a boxed Flagg ($99.99), Terror Dome ($59.99) and a year later the Defiant.($99.99) I remember thinking that was a lot of money.
Sigh... if only I had a time machine.

I recently got back into collecting but in the 1/6th area..mandollies as some would say..(Hot Toys, BBI, Toy Soldier etc) The 25th Anniversary joe's got me back into the joe scene.
But Manny, those are some sweet pics man. Brought back great memories as some of the other members mentioned. Thanks for sharing. That is pretty funny. I also stopped around the 89' year when the cartoon and figures were starting to get ridiculas (in other words, originality went out the window :rolleyes, and it was about time I grew out of the toy faze (as you can see that never happened as a grown up :o ). And just like you guys Stalker with the canoe was one of my last figures I ever bought. I bet there are a few of us with very similar stories. Now I get to spread the love of Joe's with my son and get to see him enjoy them as much as I did. Thx for the kind words about my collection everyone. I hope others can share their 80's Joe's also. |
