It doesn't end there my friends...oh, no....those days of long past do have a way of coming back. My son is the reason I got back into joes...he stumbled upon my childhood collection that was packed away. I had no influence in his opinion of them...he seen them, and he had the look in his eyes that you and I had in ours many moons ago. Since that glorious day...I have been back. You thought all your joe memories of childhood were great....imagine creating NEW joe memories with your son. Again...I did not influence him...he made his own decisions...and wanted more and more and more and more joes/cobras. Sorry for going off on tale there....the 80's were great for me, and hold a special place in my heart....but 2000's are great for me also. Yes...we all come to the boards to talk joes and get ideas for customs...but imagine having someone in your own house that shares the same passion we all share on the boards. I find that very special. That is awesome. I know just what you mean. I have a 5yr ol' Son and we've been collecting all sorts of things the past few years. And just as you said, I felt the pride and joy big time when my Son says to me the other day. "Dad, are GI Joe's just for grown ups?". I tell him "no" "they are for all ages of kids to collect or play with". And then my Son says "Good, cause I want some GI Joe's" Now my boy has a Loose 25th Annv. Snake Eyes, and Beach Head to play with. |

i think the 80's JOE's ( 3 3/4.. '82-'89) is the reason 95% of us are on this forum.
...think about it. |

please tell me it was the Artic Stalker with the white canoe!?
if so...ahahahahahh, dude i won't be able to stop laughing!! same for me. same figure same year....what a coincidence. they got way to out of control, you're right, with the neon colors and lame designs....plus it was 1989 i was into "girls" by that time man...lol '82 - '85/'86 bought (and played with) until the Nintendo came out, then it was a wrap. the best thing ever created was in my possession, it's all a blur from there until about 1991 (lol) ::handshake:: me & you are very much the same. |
