I was a Target person for 4 years, but I was not lazy!!! I started out working all the re-sets, and hanging all the crazy signs from the ceiling, and then became the toy department manager! I was thrilled. I thought I could find the exclusives faster, help a few collector's, and give some kids the chance to find the figures they always wanted. I was wrong. Target had some weird rules. I couldn't buy anything unless I was at lunch, which meant I had to walk the store twice (up front to clock out, then back to get my stuff)to get what I wanted. I was not allowed to get collectible stuff from the back for anyone, even if the pegs were empty. Most of the time it didn't matter though. We didn't keep enough of the good stuff in stock. I would scan and try to get more product, but week after week I would never receive any. (Which was sad, we had a distribution center 20 miles down the road!) I know that we got e-mails about previous exclusives and the "not catering to collectors" thing was always a sore spot with me. But like someone else said, I did what I had to to keep my job. I was fair and honest, and if I could help someone I did. I ended my Target experience after surviving Christmas that year (watching grown adults run through the store for a $7 sit & spin was my wake up call). Most collectors were really cool to me. I would spend a lot of time talking to them, and keeping up with what was sought after. I always told them if we had anything good. The only ones that really drove me nuts were the hotwheels guys. They were a little rude. Anyways, all this to say, be nice to the poor Target guys, they need their jobs, they only do what they're told, and they don't control when product comes in.

I hope this adds to the discussion, but Target used to have the little signs saying they will not go back to the back to get items, and that they limited figures to one per person, so everyone can get one if they wanted.
I know they used to have this up all the time when Star Wars started coming back, and that sign used to be in the Hot Wheels section as well. I am pretty sure they have the same policy somewhat, and I am sure there are rules concerning having someone from the electronics section leaving his area, to get something that goes to the toy section, where he is not even stationed at. I'm pretty sure it may not be an anti collector or anti toy terrorist thing. It may just have to do with the simple fact that once they do it for you, then they have to do it for everyone. Also, in this day and age, when anyone can get their hands on the codes for the product, I'm sure they are asked a million times a day to go get product out for people. The whole, "I HAVE MONEY YOU GET ME MY STUFF NOWS!" angle is very understandable, but a little one sided. Maybe if the employee wasn't swamped with stuff they had to take care of in their section, or if they were having a better day, they would have helped. Now, I is making excuses for this dude. But I hope you get the point. If I was busy doing something, and Billy Bob showed up, with G.I. Joes already in his hand and said, "can you go in the back and go get me some?", I would probably say no, as he already had some. To us, it's a big thing with buying joes, to people who don't collect, it's just some toy. I think I am going off on my point I was trying to make, oh well, I just wanted to give my view on it like everyone else. Though, when the Target vehicles came out, there was a mad rush by people in the community to run and get them before anyone else, and they used the code. I had to resort to the using the code tactic to get my one set that I wanted, it was dumb, but I got my stuff. I'm pretty sure there were a lot of people who went and tried to clean them out of what they had in back, which is sad, because a lot of people were never able to find them. Anyhow, the guy not having time, or not wanting to go back there shouldn't piss you off, just call up Target when you get a chance and ask them nicely what their policy is on getting items from the back. Then come back here and let us know what they told you! |

Thankfully the target by me has cool people. last night they checked for joes and other stuff. They are always helpful and listen.
When someone was buying DC figures and stealing build a figure parts and replacing figures and returning them they listened to me, pulled all scammed merchandise, and researched refund records and caught the guy. Thats the on on ray and 48th in phoenix. |

if they put stuff out and got more stock, then it wouldn't be an issue. I didn't really feel all that comfortable asking for the exclusives when I used the DCPI and it said they had them. But if I didn't do that, then I never would have gotten them unless I paid outrageous prices on eBay because they never had them on the shelves around here. The people were nice and friendly when I did ask, but I would prefer to walk in, find the item, buy it, and be on my way.
I really hope they get a lot of the planes and/or there are more than 2 in a case lol. The other exclusives only had 1 of each. I hope these have like 4 of each or something. Maybe the high price point will keep them around a little longer, too.

But Target's policies speak for themselves: They care for neither. So they're not doing this to do you a favor or anyone else, they're doing this, because they think collectors are all scalpers and nerds that live in their parent's basement playing warcraft 22/6.. And because customer service is nearly a thing of the past, and employees who are to lazy to do nothing but their job are complaining to their managers, who then are more willing to appease the worker over the customer.. This happened to me about 5 months ago..I told the kid I wasn't asking him to anything more than his job, that I wanted to buy some and Target would make a profit..He tells me his boss says he cant do that and I told him his boss was full of BS and to get his sorry ass out here.. He starts with his bullcrap and I cut him off and told him I was the customer, to shut the Hell up and listen to me and that there were no release dates on the joes..I told him I didn't think the upper echeoleons in Target would appreciate him refusing to sell me something and cost them a profit.. He asked if I bought and sold them on E-bay and I told him, so this is what this is all about it isn't it? I told him I wasn't a scalper, to keep his uninformed opinions to himself and that I bought them for nostalgia sake as I collected them 25 years ago.. He said, well it's always good to call..I said I like to at least look someone in the eyes when their BS'ing me..And that coming in and finding them on the shelves was part of the nostalgia.. He goes and gets 3 boxes for me, but then says, we can't do this anymore..I picked up my joes, looked him dead in the eye and grinned a S*$% eating smile and said, That's okay, I find most of my stuff at Wal-Mart anyway..They're closer and why not? They're gonna put you guys out of business anyway in the next 5 or 10 years. Oh, and Dan? I will be letting Target aware of my experience today... They sent me a $100 dollar gift certificate and a letter of apology, assuring me that the situation would be handled..I went back just for the heck of it and there were no joes..A nice young lady working in the toys told me stopped selling them.. I mailed the certificate back to Target..They can keep their certificate and I will take my business elsewhere from here on out.. Wal-Mart has always been the better route for me here.. Saboteur |

Well Target has always been better at getting Joes in than Walmart....at least target orders more than one case (Thats speaking of here and not other places). Nor did i say they were helping me or you or anyone....they might just finally be sick of middle aged men coming in with Product numbers.....
Went to my target today and they now have the same rule....they want to be FAIR to everyone and again Im glad they did this because like I said MAYBE NOW Ill have a chance of finding product o the shelves at 3:30 PM.......I should not have to be ther when it opens to get what I want......... |
