yes i would buy off of hasbro if they made that. I'm sure they will
make army builders. I remember they had the internet exclusive bats w/overkill also DTC line had the 6 packs Vipers, Troopers, Etc. and TRU has the night watch...

i'd do it, but here's why i think it wouldn't work. if hasbro can't stock shelves as it is, what makes you think they could do it with an exclusive club. the "scalpers" and the first 38 of us would just buy them up on the program until none were left, saving THEM and us gas and killing the supply. it's not like there's an endless supply of these things, they don't reproduce like cockroaches. hasbro would be spending so much money on army builders that the unreleased 25th figures would suffer at some point. i think the allure of each wave in hasbros eyes is new characters and army builders in each wave to balance it out.
it's a great idea, but i can hear a hasbro panel saying right now in my head, "we release troop builder packs such as the tru exclusives, what do you want from us"? |

The greenshirts and CGs are a nice touch (even if I don't need another Firefly), but we need sets of the REAL army-builders. The Blueshirts (ESPECIALLY the blueshirts!) , BATs, Vipers, and maybe the Eels since I see so much love for 'em here. And although not too many Cobra La fans, I wouldn't mind a pack of the honor guard (maybe as an online exclusive). |

that is a really good idea, it would be sweet to get a box of bats or infantry vipers, anything you want to army build.

I am a MOC/MISB collector mainly, so if it is just the same carded figures packed together, then I wouldn't care for them, but if there was any different type of packing like the artic or desert packs I would totally nab it, even if they were the same figures and not repaints.

On the surface, this is a fine idea. But, to Hasbro, it's probably not worth the hassle of setting this all up. Plus, doing this would undermine some of the retail demand on the line. That would lead to less retail ordering and ultimately hurt sales. Even a strong line like Star Wars moved away from this idea because they found that fans would buy the same number of figures on single cards as they did in the alternate boxes. (This is a lesson Hasbro learned the hard way with the BATs. Fans said they buy dozens and most stopped after 1 or 2 sets. Fans talk big, but rarely follow through.) I suspect that if the line falters at retail, you might see something like this attempted. But, for now, Hasbro seems to be doing just fine selling as they are. So, why go through the extra expense of making a change that really doesn't return much to them?

SmallJoes still have the BAT pack in stock, which surprised me as it's a sweet little item (I thought). If I still collected ARAH sculpts I'd still be buying them.

They did, but that set failed spectacularly before it was even released. Sales were so poor that Hasbro had to move the 2nd set (which would have been the blueshirts) to a TRU exclusive to save face. Retailers simply had no interest in the product and fans had even less since you can still buy them for under retail today.

So, why go through the extra expense of making a change that really doesn't return much to them? These are all valid concerns. I have thought of these examples as well. I think if Hasbro struck while the iron was hot this would work. I see the yearly fee as a securtiy blanket of sorts for hasbro

Why memership Fees?
I might pay 20to 25 bucks a year for a detailed news letter. The only way I would pay a membership fee is I had a say in what I was able to buy. You started off with Bats I don't want Bats. I want Vipers Vipers in Blue, Red, and Tan. What you have suggested is a Online collectors club somthing like master collectors club but some what more affordable. |
