I too find eBay less and less appealing. I used to sell on there quite a bit, now...not so much. I recently started a sale thread here on the tank just because of eBay's trend toward punishing sellers for being sellers! It's odd how they continue to take care of the buyer at the expense of their sellers, when it is the sellers who are the real customers of eBay (pay the fees).
On the positive side, I do enjoy selling on the tank more than on eBay. I'm helping out people that I share conversation with. It's more personal. It kinda reminds me of the old days on ATTM (alt.toys.transformers.marketplace) before I discovered eBay.

Ebay will soon die in a ball of fire and it won't be a good ball of fire. It really is been consumed by a corporate mentality. The fees continue to go up and they redo the feedback rules to an unbalanced state. Then they send out a flyer/card thingie a week in my mail box. I get spammed about a 10% off coupon. Why won't ebay cut their advertisement budget and gimmicks and reduce fees.

I HATE Ebay. I used to post 1000 items a week until they raised their prices. Now I'm stuck with $100,000 worth of stuff that I need to sell off and really no where to go with it but there. They have just gotten to greedy for themselves. So anyone looking for toys from the eighties, Magic or Nascar, hit me up.

Yeah, I have thought about doing that. I just think it may be hard to find the time to post items to the store with my job and all.

Its actually faster than ebay. Places like Homestead offer websites, domain registration and store fronts. Its easy -- click and go software and you're done. They have prices for stores on their website. I speak from experience as I ran one for about 4 years with game miniatures and supplies. And I did it while working a reg. day job.

I try to avoid ebay as much as possible now. I used to be a fiend on that site, now I just go if I really need something that I can't find otherwise.
I soured on it when seller started charging me $6 to ship a single, loose figure. Then I get the figure and it cost them $1.85 to ship it. Hmmmm... |

I've only bought stuff on eBay...usually stuff I can't find around here (mostly not GI Joes) and I've never had a problem. I used that coupon on a small item ($9.95) and it gave me $1 off. Everything has pros and cons. I know there are problems with it, but I'm glad I have yet to have any.

If only folk here had all the weird, obscure, Japanese stuff that I need :(
Much as it pains me to do so, I agree with Cornbot on this one. Ebay isn't perfect, but it is necessary right now. I also sell stuff on eBay, despite the fact that sellers also get the shaft. I haven't had that much luck trying to sell stuff here and on other toy forums. |
