I have a serious question and since you guys are in the know here it goes. For about the last 8-10 years I have been putting away 3 ¾ Joes and their weapons. I bought collections at toy shows when were doing them, off ebay and so on to fill in my collection and because I know, being in the diecast business, what items usually do after their 25th Anniversary.
I have most likely between 8-9,000 loose figures, about 4,500 of them are complete with their weapons in clam shells graded (by me not AFA) and ready to sell, the rest are in 5 55 gallon trash cans and there are 3 55 gallon trash cans full of weapons and accessories. I kept only the clean and near mint or above figures and thru time put the others on ebay and sold them in lots of 25 so there is no junk in what is left. I also have at least 25 cases of every release of product from 2000 onward. Some I have much much more (I have 100 cases of wave 6), this included all the 2 packs, single (CVS cases), 3 packs, 6 packs, and vehicle assortments. There are about 9 pallets of stuff.
I was talking with my wife and we were thinking of throwing a bunch of stuff in the Suburban and running down to the convention but I have no idea how to price the stuff.
So the question is:
How do you price the items to sell? Is there a good guide? On line site?
I have sealed cases of stuff from 84 – 88 and then from 2000 on as well.
I am keeping my complete loose collection and my complete packaged collection and my prototypes. This is just the investment stuff that I am thinking of selling. Or maybe it is not worth getting the forklift out and taking them down from the pallet racks?
I am not all that interested in auctions so I am trying to set prices and let them go.
Any help would be nice. ALSO NOTHING IS FOR SALE YET. I HAVE TO FIGURE OUT HOW TO PRICE IT AND THEN DECIDE TO SELL IT. BEFORE ANYTHING WILL BE FOR SALE.
If I grab a few boxes and fly to he convention, what years are people looking for?
Thanks in advance,

I always find searches of completed items on ebay to be a good indicater.Obviously some of this stuff is going to be hard to get a really good idea on.I would have no idea how to price a case from 84' .but some creative searches, should get you a little info.

I would just think what you have invested and what you you feel a good profit is too you. Ebay is a bad place to price stuff. One day one thing will sell for $15, next day $25. Its day of the week. You also have to tell yourself if you sell at the joe show how much will you have to put out before you even make a profit. $300 table, $150 a night for hotel, gas, food?
Hope this helps.

Use collector magazines like Toy Review and Wizard Toyfare and then look up completed items on eBay. Pick a medium price and go. Plus, what are they worth to you? If they are worth more than eBay or the price guides list, then you may want to hang on to them. The upside is that GIJOE is in demand unlike Star Wars. If you had figures from 95 to current in SW, then they are worth like a $1.50 a figure.

I agree, plan the trip and see if it's worth it to you. Personally I think showing up at the convention with just some of what you have would be a great idea. You could talk to other dealers on Friday and throw prices on the figs that night. Sounds like some of your stuff would go over great, good luck, hope to see you in Dallas.

I post something for sale here at a given price and see how much hate it generates and I go from there.

if you are looking to maximize your profits and not just "get rid of" stuff, i would be wary of using price guides like Wizard and Lee's. while i think they can be used as a rough basis, i don't think they should be taken as gospel for what you could get for them in an ideal situation. for example, i saw recently that one of them had pretty much all of the late 80's specialty Vipers (Alley, Night, Frag, Astro, etc) priced about the same, in the $9-11 area. i'd be shocked if you got less than about $15 for an Alley or Night Viper on eBay, and equally shocked if you got more than about $7-8 for an Astro-Viper. another example: Sky Patrol figures were listed in one of them at about $10 each. being someone currently looking for these figures, i cruise eBay for them fairly frequently, and haven't seen a complete on sell for under $18 in the last 3-4 months that i've been looking. but like someone else said, eBay may not be the way to go, either, as it is highly variable day-to-day. I lucked out and gotten many complete figures for like $0.99

i disagree, i think ebay is the way to sell it. post each figure indivitually and have about 40 that end each day. its all about presentation on ebay. the better quality your pictures are and the more describtion you list is the way to sell on ebay.
i buy stuff all the time on ebay for the low because some idiot didnt want to take the time to take a decent picture and clean his items. then i sell them for double the price or keep them! just depends. its not hard to do. im telling you if you sell on ebay you will make a killing. start every complete figure off at like 3.99 and then combine on shipping for like 50 cents for every figure after the first. its the way to get r done
