Yea, like i said before, ebay really destroyed that sorta thing. I had my own toy business when i was 18 and THANK GOD i sold 95% of my inventory before ebay went mainstream. Soon after, toyshow after toyshow began shutting down as anyone interested in that stuff got it online.
Dealers got hit hard. Never touched it since. Also, before i get tomatoes thrown at me i didn't scalp from my local stores. I had a distributer.

If I had one, I'd call it Hero Hut.
But yeah, like Walmart, eBay sucks - but if you want certain things, it's inevitably unavoidable.

Yea I had one back in the day before Ebay took hold. It was a cool store. Before the store I had a mail order business going on (no jokes) and that was really cool. I was setting up at toy shows at least 3 times a month and that lead to the store. Good times but a hell of a lot of work. I too had a distributor and of course we shopped around like everyone else. This was before "scalpers" took hold. Most of our initial inventory came from my partner and I. My wife at the time even helped out with the business and shows. Miss it a bunch but I know that times would be difficult right now.

its funny that this thread popped up, the only comic book store where i live just closed its doors for good today... i'm not surprised tho, every time i went in, the guys who ran the place were always in the back room playing Magic the Gathering... They would never even make an effort to see if they could order a book or figure for you so i started ordering my comics online... they had an awesome selection of the minimates i wish i could have got my hands on

Well, I don't own a comic book store, but I am a faithful register monkey for one in Round Rock, TX.
We do a good business overall and as one would expect, it can be a whole hell of a lot of fun.
