I'll start us off.
I was searching for Wave 8 last week, thus I called a local Target in the area. After waiting on hold for 4 minutes, I got a lady who worked in the toy department. After asking her for what I was looking for, she replied..."we no longer carry the 25th anniversary GI Joes. We have not had any GI Joes in stock since they were put on clearance after the holidays." I re-explained that I am looking for the single packs or comic packs, all other Targets currently carry these, and they are not and never been clearance products. She restated..."no, they do not carry either because they have not had anymore since the holidays." None the less, I called customer service with the DCPI nos. and found that they had a few comic packs in stock. Also, no current singles were in, but they are expecting some more next week. Thus, hey Target lady in the toy dept. - F you! |

This is not Joe related but it is about B.S. happening at Target.
A few weeks ago Target was having a sale on 1:24 size Nascar cars. I wanted to pick up one of each of the new 2008 Dale Earnhardt Jr. cars. All I found left was a Tony Stewart car, but I decided to scan it because Target uses the same codes for every toy within the same line. Walmart on the other hand itemizes everything. I guess this just makes things easier on Target when they have to do inventory. Well getting back to the story the scanner showed that they had more cars in the stockroom. When I asked an employee about it he tells me that it meant that they had more in the warehouse offsite and that they didn't keep any stock in the back. Yeah right like I was going to believe that. I was in too much of a rush to argue with the guy, or even go up front to customer service. I just ended up going to another Target before the sale ended and got a rain check on the sale price. I don't know why these employees take us all for fools. |

I went to Wal-Mart and saw a box of Joe figures that hadn't been opened yet on the pallet during over night stock. I went and asked the lady stocking the shelves if she couold open it. There was plenty of room for the figures on the shelves, and I only wanted a couple, so it would be worth the while shopping wise. Well, she says "We don't have any GI Joe toys". I pointed out the Joe toys already on the shelves and she replied "Those are new." Well, something tells me 14 BUZZERS wasn't new, considering this happened earlier last month. So I told her I was looking for the two figures (Vipers, BTW) and she had a box on the pallet. Well she came oveer with me to the pallet, looked at it and said "Those aren't GI Joes." I pointed out were it said in glorious Hasbro Box Purple, GI JOE 3.75 Inches. She told me they were Indiana Jones. I argued with her and she wouldn't change her mind, so I left, to which I heard her say "F***ing a**" when she thought I couldn't hear her anymore.
I found a manager, reported her, he opened the box and I got the two Vipers for Kalibus and went on my way. |

I asked some worker (he might have been a manager) in the toy department about when they would get Joes in and he said it would be months before he had anymore. Well I came in the next week and lo and behold there was a fresh case of wave 7 in stock! Needless to say I do not bother asking any employees and such at these stores anymore about Joes! |

Odd thing about that store, it seems that now, whenever I can't find something somewhere, if I call and ask them, low and behold, there it is.

1) how many of the item it thinks (because of theft, shipping/billing errors, etc., it can be wrong) the store has onhand. If there's a way to tell specifically how many of those onhand are (for example) Vipers, I don't know it & in my experience, most department managers & assistant managers don't either. They can't tell the difference between waves at all. 2) how many are supposed to be on that night's truck. The truck is either on the way to the store or is at the door waiting to be unloaded. These (assuming there's room on the shelf for the entire shipment) will be on the pegs in the morning, but sometimes trucks arrive early & won't be unloaded until the following evening. This is especially true of stores that average a truck or more a day. 3) how many the warehouse is putting on the truck for the store's next delivery. The truck hasn't left yet, & should be on the shelves in about two days. 4) how many the system, department manager, or whoever else has ordered. This number can be actively cancelled by management (but isn't likely to), be filled, or sit so long the system itself decides it's time to purge an order the warehouse (for whatever reason) cannot or will not fill. I don't know how long an order can sit before it automatically purges but it's at least a few weeks. So basically we get a two day warning that somthing's coming in. Whether it's possible to get a more accurate answer, I don't know. But it'd take time & research. Calling the warehouse for one. Often this is something that can take hours. Very very few department managers are willing to go to that effort. You'd be amazed at how little difference in pay there is between the door greeter & the department manager. But when people ask questions, it's necessary to give some kind of answer. So you guess. Obviously that guy's guess was based on pessimism.
