Well, while searching Wal-Mart for some wave 8 and wave 4 comic packs today, I ran into a Hasbro rep. She was actually very friendly and somewhat knowledgeable. I expressed that finding new joes in the area is impossible. Her main response was to check at the bigger franchise stores like Super-Wal-Mart and larger scale TRU, for they will get more product in. Also, that they are hard to find because Hasbro is not shipping much joe product now. They are mainly concentrating on the following toy lines corresponding to new or soon to be released movies - Iron Man, Indiana Jones, and Hulk. After those movies are past, the joes will start shipping out more readily.
Not really what I wanted to hear, but this does make sense. Thus, if you are having a hard time in finding joes (like me), you are shit out of luck!! Looks like, i'll stick with slow ass BBTS. |

I wonder if the merch for this Hulk movie will warm the shelves as much as the last one.

look how long pirates of the c. were rotting on the shelves. i guess i should say still rotting. some of this movie crap will definately start to decompose b4 it sells.
that's ok, it shouldn't take away the room for the 3-4 empty pegs we have here. |

Argh! Save for a few lines, movie toy tie-ins are about at the same level as movie based video games! It's so frustrating seeing all that Hulk stuff, just keeping the pegs toasty. I mean, it hasn't moved a bit.

I have spoken with hasbro reps before.. they usually don't know a lot about the details of products. At least that was my experience. I am still seeing 6 cases of wave 7 hitting a single store at a time, so I disagree with the amount of joe product hitting the shelves.

I think it all depends on your area, my nearest store is almost 30 minutes away. Except my secret store of course, but we won't mention that now will we?

Hulk, Batman, Indiana Jones and Speed Racer are all taking up a helluva lot of retail space in stores. Even Dollar General has a bigger space devoted to Speed Racer than TRU has for GI Joe in these parts... and very little seems to move. Indiana Jones was a little hard to find at first, but now is no problem.

no offense to anyone, but from my experience with reps who visit toy stores, they usually know very little. in fact, those of us who frequently get on this site and others like it actually seem to know more than they do. it's not surprising though. to them it's just a job. to us it's a passion. well, at least for me i know it is.
from what i hear, they don't get told much. usually they just look for the toys they are told to look for within the stores they have product in.....and then all they usually do is look to see that it is out on the endcaps, and can't often speak to why the shelves or pegs are so bare. |
