First and foremost...Real life current events have lightly crafted my thoughts.
In my verse Cobra Commander is not the moron the cartoons, comics have created. In this verse he is educated. In languages, history, politics, climate and technology, military tactics, and manners. Cobra in this verse is the answer to the corruption, and hate that is the blanket of current events With that brief description, I wonder if I should continue. This verse is a mixture of what I want to see the world to become, mixing reality and fiction. But it involves a fictional terrorist group that craves the positive morality of a real world that rarely honors, honor. Let me know if your interested in more. Again, this is a mix of fantasy, and real life events. By events, I mean the mentality of the world. No real world people will be in this. I want this to be a dark, gritty verse. Not the cookie cutter thing where Cobra troops miss every shot. But ..well..if you want me to to go on, get to the heart of what I've created in my mind let me know. |

Sounds like what you’re looking for is the Marvel ARAH comics. Cobra Commander is a competent leader, the cobra soldiers are SOLDIERS not canon fodder, and Joes actually die.
As for my Joe-verse, Cobra Commander is a guy called Rex Lewis who has a Hisstank account where he tries to trick the Joes with questions into helping him improve his latest schemes, such as nanomites and project Zeus satellites. |

Also, to clear things up, my comment about Cobra Commander asking questions on here is a long running joke, and was in no way attacking you. |

And I'm trying to come in below a maximum character requirement for your thread, as I know you don't dig backstories ;)

Well, I did misinterpret what was said. I apologize.
Second, this will come in bits and pieces. Umm..let's see. The final battle between the Joe's and Cobra ended in 1994, when vintage ended. But Cobra was broken, but not defeated A lot of soldiers went into hiding, as did some of the Cobra hierarchy. Extensive Enterprises still existed, as did M.A.R.S. From 94 to 2020, when Cobra reemerges from the shadows. During that time they were busy. Recruiting, extremely smart college level individuals, scientists, exploring certain varieties of tech that the mainstream scientists viewed as career killers. Destro amped up weapons and tech research and development. Several private security businesses became available for prior soldiers of various types, yet all secretly owned by Extensive Enterprises. These companies were seen to compete with one another, but again were all under the the umbrella of the twins. Crystal Ball still exists, and under his mastery of hypnotism, could manipulate these soldiers of fortune. It wasnt like Professor X taking over minds, but through mild, manipulative speaking or films new employees had to watch. It was just enough to convince new soldiers of the company, that the ideals of these Security forces, aka Cobras new goals were something they wanted to fight for. Btw..Crystal Ball in my verse ditched his grubby ol' uniform. And is now a right, and proper well dressed, slick individual. Umm..if this is all weird and confusing, sorry. Its organized right and decent in my head. I'm attempting to establish Cobra after all of its blunders and failures have re examined the whole world domination thing. Cobra Commander may or may not be the same individual. I'm not setting this character in stone. I still dont know what I want him to be, except that's hes not as rash, hes intelligent, values the arts, and history of mankind. He desires a 1 world order, but not of cruelness. If anyone knows of the I think Georgia Stones. That's sorta his guidelines. I dunno if this is confusing, I got a lot more to put down. If you have questions or comments, be glad to respond to them. Again sorry if this is..I dunno, confusing. Again, I've pondered this for a few years, makes sense to me, kinda hard to put it down in text. Last edited by Drunken Whaler; 12-02-2019 at 01:22 AM.. |

Other than the almost certainty that a benevolent one-world order is impossible, I think this is a really interesting idea. And it is fiction, your fiction, after all, so run with it. I think this would be a fascinating storyline, where Cobra Commander IS a good person, with good intentions, but how one brings about that vision and how, if they could do so morally, they maintain it without corruption and cruelty taking over (not possible, IMO), would be really interesting. Sort of like Machiavelli's virtuous man, the virtuous ruler, where the principality is only one bad successor away from tyranny.

Ok..my idea of Cobra Commander.
A lot of this is borrowed from the movie of others, also myself. I have no idea if that's ok or not, but..I dont care. I'm not a big fan of people. I think this world is jacked. It's all about power I guess. There is a saying about money is the root of all evil. I dont agree, human emotions regarding greed is. The one ..uh. hmm..nobody has controlled the planet. It's the last and only form of rule never accomplished. In my verse, I dunno. It involves the "bad guy" with the better idea of salvaging the planet. This Cobra Commander cares so much about preserving earth, atrocities must be committed. Think Thanos. Emotions have no place in Cobra, wiping out the good guy persona that the world has been flaunting since creation It dont work. Cobra in my mind is the needed villain, to make things better all around. The world must be purged of rotten ideals, meaningless rivalries The Commander has no loyalties anymore. My personal beliefs bleed into this fan fiction. I still have faith in our real world, but this is a fast track of an idea that ..well I like. But back to my verse, Cobra is at least 20 years more advanced in tech. A lot less troops, Crystal Ball and his mentalist in this verse make him a valued member of Cobra. I'll explain recruitment next post Phone dying |

Actually, the verse in Timothy says 'For the love of money is the root of all evil...', not money itself. Money is just a tool. So, as you said, it's greed that leads to evil. And if we're having a philosophical discussion, rather than one simply about your fiction, the idea of a Thanos would not fix anything. Even if an entity could be emotionless enough to cause a catastrophe or atrocity in the name of righting the wrongs of the world, and then simply retire, walk away the way Thanos did, someone would step in the void and seek power.
