Actually, the verse in Timothy says 'For the love of money is the root of all evil...', not money itself. Money is just a tool. So, as you said, it's greed that leads to evil. And if we're having a philosophical discussion, rather than one simply about your fiction, the idea of a Thanos would not fix anything. Even if an entity could be emotionless enough to cause a catastrophe or atrocity in the name of righting the wrongs of the world, and then simply retire, walk away the way Thanos did, someone would step in the void and seek power.
This! That verse is so often misquoted. Also, the power void is another thing so often misunderstood. |

I’m almost at 3,000 now lol. It comes from all the nonsense threads such as the Late Night Crew, the constant bickering about Harry Golding, Sevenlima’s hundreds of unimportant questions, and the completely absurd (and purposely so) “Fortnite Burger” thread.
Only a small portion of my comments are Joe related or have any merit at all lol Last edited by Yeet; 12-02-2019 at 12:21 PM.. |

Naw. I was simply trying to create a mindset for CC. It's easy for me to understand what this verse is about, but at the same time sorta difficult for me to put it down in words. I'm not overly original in creating this verse. Basically plagerising ideas from a bunch of movies, mixing them into one giant stew.
I find it difficult to create a verse, without using partial ideas others have created. I'm not proud of that, but it's all I got. Most days, I add or remove ideas. I'm still trying to solidify everything into something, that I'm truly content with. Still a work in progress, even though I know the path I'm content with It's really all in the details that fluster me. |

Virtually all art is derivative, man. I think you've amalgamated and synthesized something really fascinating, taking the GI Joe story and sort of turning it on its head. Keep working on it, dude. I write quite a bit, original stuff, but occasionally I write something in the Star Wars or Battletech or GI Joe world just for exercise, just to keep the creative juices flowing. And I don't think it's hard to understand what you're conceptualizing here. Have some confidence in your work, because you have some cool ideas already.

My Cobra-verse structure is based on many different ideas - Nazi Panzer divisions, Marines, terrorism and the ability to be a disrupter on the world stage with the ability and aggression to get into armed conflicts with the US, NATO, China, Russia.
One of my latest scenarios is that of Cobra taking over WW2 atolls in the pacific, re-purposing them to become a player in the south pacific and interfere with both US and Chinese interests. Deploying Condor Jets and Liquidators as a show of force. I think it's only natural for us as adults who play with toys to have our "universes" somewhat based in reality. |

To me the most impressive depictions of Cobra Commander were in Gi Joe Resolute and the Image/DDP comics. They were ruthless but not cowardly. However, neither of them could be considered altruistic or particularly concerned with the welfare of their troops.
Your version of Cobra Commander sounds like the old adage that the villain is the hero of his own story. There have been a multitude of interpretations of Batman and Joker. Cobra and Gi Joe can afford some fresh ideas. Go for it. |

Still a work in progress, even though I know the path I'm content with It's really all in the details that fluster me. As far as getting things cohesively together in words, I find that recording my thoughts vocally first helps me to articulate my thoughts a bit better when I go to put them to type/paper. That's not a critique, just something I find that helps me a bit when my ideas threaten to overwhelm me. And no worries on "partial ideas of others", that's the human condition. If no one used parts of other's ideas, we wouldn't even be wearing clothes. Hell, we probably wouldn't have made it very far as a species at all... as has already been said, everything is derivative. In any case, I dig what you've got down so far, keep it flowing man.

I like you ideas for you Cobra verse. It's often easier to think of verse than to right it down. I look forward to reading more. Thank you for sharing.

Ok..not to get off track. But it sort of pertains to why, I like a villain to be a good guy. Anyways, I watched a movie tonight..War Machine. No it's not the avenger. It got me thinking of a movie I'd love to watch. I was thinking it would be called the "Lying President"". I know this will be off track my whole verse thread. But, the movie would be about a truly honest guy, gets elected. Beginning would be how honest he was, middle what real politics is about. If you watch War Machine..part about Afghanistan growing heroin, yet could grow cotton, but the US dont want cotton competition in the world market so they grow heroin. I have no idea if that's true yet I honestly believe the US Gov would do that.
But during said presidency encounters numerous scams like that all over the world. But after four years of this insanity the honest guy finds out about, he wont rerun. The end is him having a State of the Union speech..he starts out following the written speech they give him..but..then exposes how rotten and shady the Gov really is..after a about five minutes..the screen goes black..but you hear a gun go off. End movie. I like the idea chances are he was killed by someone, but then..its just a shot. So who knows. But at the same time..if Cobra was real..and you heard these crazy testimonies from a president would that chase you to Cobra. That in my verse is about exposing corrupt officials, but are deemed terrorists. In the end the President was honest stories are true, but the public who cant imagine such things refer to him as the Lying President. By the way, if any of this seemed rush or lightly confusing. I have to pee so bad. Didnt wanna lose my momentum and held it. |
