i think you missed the whole concept of the nano-technology that allows the metal on the face move with your face muscles, so there is no need for "openenings" such as for mouth movement or ears. That mask concept looks like a huge disappointment (if it were truely being made for the movie)

How about using a Guy Fawkes mask?
My take would be to direct Destro in a way like how Dr. No was first portrayed.. no face shot for now till he puts his mask on. But.... since we know who he is now, there's no thrill in doing that. Though it'll still work for non-fanboys. |

I guess this was my way of not using nanotech.

If you remember, the cartoon and Marvel run, there was no cut-out or opening for mouth movement, it just "moved".

Yes, but I also remember that I was 8 years old and even at that age, I questioned how that was possible, and now I guess nanotech is the answer.
Sure it works, but I guess I just wanted something other than nanotech because it just feels like a cop out, but at the same time, theres really no other semi-valid way you can get a metal mask on a guy and even make his mouth and ears metal, and still move. I dunno, I guess the thing I did was kind of a way to do it without having to make something up to explain it, and its a comprimise by having an actual metal (at least metal looking for film), practical device on the man, yet still give him room to act.

Also, when it comes to CGI (which is what the nanotech mask would look like, I am sure), Sommers is all over the place. His CGI will go from incredible to ugly as sin in most of his movies. Like I said, I guess this is my way of keeping it practical, while saving money for CGI in more needed places.
This is all coming from a film standpoint, as well as from an oldschool fan. You have to make comprimises in film to get things to work, you have to please the fans, actors and the suits. So lets say Destro gets a full CGI nanotech mask, how often do you think they will use it? Each time you see it in action, its costing money. Make a couple of practical masks, and your done with it. I guess it's just me, but I would like to see Destro in the mask for a majority of the time his character is used, and I guess in my opinion, while creating the mask art, I tried to keep it as oldschool looking as I could, while actually making sense to physics. I dont mind movies that are a little 'out there' in terms of action, but I like my movies to still carry a bit of "gravity", IE: I hate most use of wire work, and I hate wasted CGI. But thats all my opinion. Call it an abomination, call it whatever, but to me, I would accept this as a bad ass wearing a war helmet/mask that was based off of an ancestorial (sp) family mask.

I hope they have improved their CGI by now. The two mummy film's CGI reminded me of ......... CGI.

Thats exactly my worry, and if they CG Destros mask, I feel it will be used more as a gimick than a look. Ill give Sommers credit, he took CGI to new places with the mummy, but man, his work after that just seemed all over the place. Im not real for sure what FX studio he uses (probably a mix of a couple im sure) but man, I hope he uses CGI only where needed, as I feel it should be used. I for one, am not looking forward to a Sommer's CGI Destro mask.

And what cracks me up, is there is, and will be old school fans who are divided on what they believe is the classic Destro look.
You have one side saying it should be a big metal mask on the guys head with no openings other than the eyes. Then you got the other side saying he should be completely covered in metal but still have moving metal lips and functioning metal ears. So, how is it even possible to please everyone?

It perplexes me that my art gets called an "abomination" and being told it wouldn't fit in the Joe universe, then I see the new on-set pics of the 'battle suits' and Snake-Eyes.
