Thanks BC!
I was hoping to get Cover Girl's card art done in time for the end of the big contest, but I made the choice to do Stalker's card instead because it was a more limited color pallet, as well as time (work, family time). He was done start to finish in about 6 hours from pencil to final image (the fastest turnaround time yet on one of these character illustrations). I think to get CG's card right, it may take a little more time. |

I can usually crank on the art side when I have to. That's in my wheelhouse. But rushing a custom figure (especially when it involves sculpting or other extensive mods as well as repainting) is just a bad idea. I always like to try & include some sculpting in custom figures I do to ensure it's one of a kind nature. You have to make time for that but it's part of the fun and challenge for me.

is there any possibility that you have just the plain explosion card art like the background just a base template you work with?

I started playing around with the idea of doing some Action Force style card illustrations. I wanted to keep the retro look and feel with a little modernization added for good measure.
I trying to decide which way to go for the final image. This version features a Joe style explosion behind the AF logo. I like it, but I'm not sure if it's too different from the classic card style. Version without the explosion behind the Af logo. Also playing around with the idea of faux aging for the card. I'd be very interested in hearing any thoughts you might have on what you like and dislike about both versions. Working on the Black Major rendering now. Drawing based on the classic Af Data File artwork. Thanks for taking a look! |

Tim, I think the updated Action Force card is a *great* blend of the classic card with the Joe card elements. Much more dynamic (to me anyway) than the original AF cards - which are nice, but *very* flat. I dig your first attempt. Really like the way the fire/explosion pops the "Action Force" off the card back.

.... I've even contemplated just inking the character illustration and coloring it in a more traditional comic style. Still trying to make up my mind, but I'm leaning toward a fully painted look. |

I'd definitely go fully painted. It'd be a waste of your skills not to!
