Great updates all around, z. I know it really bugs you when you have to stray too far from the original and/or most iconic designs (for the 82-87 especially), so I'm happy to see you found a nice place to settle on with Deep Six with this third iteration. Gary Sinese is a great choice as well (he finally gets to get into a suit!). I do hope that his last design gets recycled back in somehow. ;)
Sgt. Slaughter is FANTASTIC. You did a great job of capturing that larger than life (literally larger than the real life Slaughter...enough to make me not think so much of the wrestler) Slaughter of the cartoon. Nice work on Delphi as well. Not very exciting, just a solid visualization of her brief Resolute look. It's great to see the lengths you go to try to keep the characters looking so true to form, be it service or unit changes. Did she replace one of the other characters or did you add a position just for her? |

These are great! I hope you keep at this!
I'd love to see your take on "Cobra L.A." If you're going back to touch any of these up, might I request Destro? I love the design, but his mask seems a little bulky to me. Your modern take on the setting is really interesting; any chance of elaborating? |

Good eye noticing Natalie Portman. I honestly had no idea it was her before you mentioned it... I just picked one of the random internet heads I have saved on my hard drive and used it. Quote:

Thanks! And welcome to the 'tank. Quote:
I do plan on revisiting a number of earlier concepts (including Destro)... the bulk of the images I've posted were made on a PC with a vastly inferior imaging system to the one I have available to me now, and looking at them now, I'm almost embarrassed at the poor colour composition that resulted from my old monitor not being able to render gray gradients and solid blacks very well. Are you asking for an elaboration on the status of the "greater world" that my take on GI Joe is embedded in? Well, I'd like to imagine that "the world" that my version of GI Joe exists in is identical to our own in terms of historical timeline. The only real difference is that JSOC decided to put its money where it's mouth is and create a real joint service anti-terrorism unit capable of rapid deployment in toto within 18 hours to any hotspot in the Western hemisphere, and within 36 hours in the Eastern hemisphere, instead of simply co-opting DEVGRU and Delta Force from the Navy and the Army, respectively and calling them its own (of course, in this setting, DEVGRU and Delta Force still exist as JSOC assets, it's just that they exist alongside GI Joe -- GI Joe isn't a replacement for DEVGRY or Delta). |

Love that Sgt. Slaughter! I know you didn't want to do him at first but that is a great look for him. Plus you went ahead and made him pretty badass as far as the training he's done.
Excellent. Love Delphi too. Like her as a Seaman (seawoman?) You might have to add all the new Characters before too long. Deep-Six looks fine too. Although I loved your original way more. Deep-Six and the Sharc to me are the worst toy GIJoe made, yet somehow I own three. Hated it though. But your Deep-Six is totally true to form. Can't wait to see the new bios as well. |

Four new composite images (no new filecards for these... as I've mentioned in an earlier post, I've stopped making individual filecards in the traditional format and will be creating them as more of a formal document, I've listed the main stuff underneath the pics, although I'm saving the other stuff -- like martial arts and language proficency listings, weapons qualifications, educational background -- for the actual document... gotta give you guys a reason to download and check out the final product, after all):
Sparks
Shareware
Mojo
Daemon

Yeah, I had to amp up his training credentials, as it's the only way I could have him fit with the SOTG as his old pre-GI Joe unit. All SOTG trainers, at the bare minimum, are airborne and combat dive qualified reconnaissance men.

well done, i think you said you did this by digihashing airbrush. are you using lightwave (or another 3-d prgram), photogrpahs, or original atwork for the models? whatever you are doing, it is clean work, great job! COBRA!

I use photographs, mostly. I composite images and digitally airbrush over them. I digitally paint in details when I can't find the necessary photos to draw textures from, though. |

Nice Job Zulu,
Sparks looks good. I can't remember what the old one looked like. There is something about his face though. Maybe it's just that mediterranean diet that gives him that flawless skin and glow? Shareware is a great addition, and he's from my hometown so I love it. Mojo looks great. He is almost wearing the Steel Brigade get up the TRU 6 pack guys had. You make me want to come up with a custom somehow. What exactly do you envision the Human Resource Specialist doing? Making sure the Joes got their 401Ks in order or something more? Daemon I'm not sure I like. I mean it sure is a great use of what is available. He fits in with many of the Support people as well, but shouldn't he get a gun or something? Well he's so not important it doesn't matter, but I always picture that one day Hasbro gets a hold of these and is like, "These are great! Lets make figures!" well then Daemon might get the short end of the stick. Please don't change him though. He is as he should be, I'm just playing. |

The HR Specialists on the team have more to do with administrative/personnel duties... making sure unit transfers are on the up and up, keeping track of IDs and other personnel documentation, geenral record-keeping, that type of stuff. |
