Thanks!
I've got a list somewhere... gimme a sec to look for it and I'll post it. EDIT: Here are the Joes remaining on my "to-do" list:
I might end up adding a few more (I've got half a mind to replace the greenshirts in the Direct Action platoons with "named characters"). Ha! With the number of named characters it practically writes itself. (Well not really I know you put in a lot of effort making the characters fit.) At any rate I love to see your work so the more the merrier in my view. Love the Steel Brigade Guys btw. Spot on. |

Just got a brand new LCD monitor (w00t! w00t!) for my birthday to replace the ancient CRT I've been using for the past 5 years. Looking back at some of the older images I made, I can see the blacks are off on some of them (the glare on my old CRT used to give me problems distinguishing levels of grays) so I'll probably spend a bit of time doing colour corrections. Nothing major, though, and nothing to keep me from making new images for too long.

These are cool; I haven't even reached the halfway point and I'm liking a looooot of this stuff. Great mind you got there, zulu.
RoC's doing a lot of cool concepts but I hope Hasbro would take a look-see at this thread and get more ideas. |

Hey all,
I've slowly let my old art thread die a quiet death, primarily because updating the image links to reflect my switching image servers (form HISStank to Photobucket) was too much of a hassle. Anyway, I've continued to make "digibashed" and airbrushed concept art for my version of the GI Joe & Cobra characters, and the filecards to go with them. The filecards are accurate as of at least late 2007 with regards to the publicly accessible Department of Defense occupational codes, courses & training school listings. You can view the concept art here (162 images as of latest count) The custom filecards can be viewed here My organizational outline of the GI Joe team, which shows my take on the Joe team's roster and will help explain why I've given certain Joes the jobs that they hold in their filecards, can be downloaded here Here are some samples of my latest concept images: ... Clockwise, from top left: Storm-Shadow, Flint, Mayday, Snake-Eyes Design notes: - Storm-Shadow .... - Flint .... - Mayday is a character that originated in GI Joe Extreme, and was later re-introduced in the Devil's Due GI Joe comics. She's listed as a "sharpshooter" in GI Joe vs Cobra: The Essential Guide written by Pablo Hidalgo. Going off of that, I re-imagined her as a USAF Security Forces countersniper (hence the very dark blue beret). The USAF Countersniper school is the only DoD sniper school that accepts females. Again, I replaced the USAF Security Forces beret flash with a GI Joe flash, and placed the GI Joe DUI (distinctive unit insignia) on her jumpsuit's right shoulder (I'll post a detailed image of the Joe DUI in a later post). - Snake-Eyes .... Comments are always welcome, and if you want to read the filecards or see more concept images, click on the links in my signature/banner.

Awesome work there, z.
Steel Brigade: Fantastic work. I wasn't really sure how their looks would carry over, but surprisingly they didn't need too much in terms of color correction. Xtreme: I'm completely digging all three. Nice use of Tall Sally in the admin position (a great way to not take someone out of field duty but still have a named character). Good work on Quick Strike in that you gave him the do-rag to differentiate him from Stalker, but you also made him kind of a bulkier looking guy as well. Harpoon didn't give you much to work with, so this is a suitable reimagining in my eyes. Ace: I know you hadn't posted him here, but my access is more limited now, so I'll go ahead and comment on him. I really like his uniform a lot more here (it resembles his 25th Anniversary v.2 costume). I see you fixed the hand from the initial image you posted. That said, that head need some work. It seems to be positioned awkwardly for one, and the hair isn't exactly a style I could see a guy like Ace wearing. I've said it before and I'll say it again, the original head you had on Ace way back when really suited him better than any of the subsequent attempts. The old head on the new image would be the perfect Ace in my mind. Kudos on another great round of redesigns! |

Nice Zulu,
I'm all for more Puerto Rican Joes, and what better than Culebra Island for another Joe. Now who can I use for this guy? Your Quick Strike bears a striking resemblance to the Do rag Heavy-Duty's of the last few years, so now I have a perfect excuse to pull him out. Thanks. |
