Oh, and since we're talking general designs and concepts and whatnot in this thread anyway, anybody else notice how similar the Retaliation Zartan figure is to the Renegades Zartan design (as he appeared in episode 14)? It really looks like a repaint of a proposed Renegades Zartan figure, which also makes me think that Zartan's costume in the movie will probably not look like the one he wears in the Retaliation figure. |

-I hope you still have my e-mail address. -In terms of gameplay, this is the most fun I've had with a game in the series since SoulCalibur 1. The gameplay, graphics, sounds, creation, and online are all the best they've ever been. As for the dropped characters, I can see why they did it. Talim, Zasalamel, Rock, and Yun were all low-tier characters that had other, better characters who had the same fundamental tools (Rock, Yun) or had their gameplay uniqueness usurped by the new system changes (Talim's evasion vs Quick Step). That said, I'm really hoping for upgraded versions of them or some replacements in DLC or via a Super/Ultimate/Championship edition. As for the UFC 3 demo, I didn't know that was out. The week before SoulCalibur V came out I was playing the mess out of the PRIDE/FC demo. ;-) It's a big jump up in terms of presentation and gameplay over the last one, but I feel they still haven't gotten the submission system down. Yeah Z, I agree about Renegades Zartan = Retaliation Zartan.
I have a copy of the Fury Force sketch, the team shot, what else is out there for Fury Force stuff? There's some dossier type things right?

As for Whilce,
Loved his stuff when he first came out. So different and dynamic. Now? Now it's just bad. Jim Lee's work is the same. Which is the problem. He hasn't really evolved or grown as an artist.

I can't speak for Lee, but for me, the most frustrating part about following Portacio's trajectory as an artist is that based on the personal/non-work for hire stuff he posts on his blog (which hasn't been active in a while), he does seem to be working on improving his life-drawing techniques and that should carry over into his comics illustration. But for some reason, he defaults to a certain set rendering style when he's working on comics. |
