Just a couple of multirole fighter jets to serve in the escort/SEAD capacity and a couple of assault/utility/medium-transport helicopters. No attack helicopters, though.

I've considered using the Pandur 6x6 APC as the standard troop carrier for the Joes... USASOC/USSOCOM bought a few dozen of them a few years ago as a replacement/complement for the GMV-S (and they're small enough that they can fit inside a C-130... I think they can be configured for LVAD/LAPES deployment, too), but I've yet to see any pics of what the US versions of the Pandur look like.

That looks perfect and a sort of cross between the Quick-Strike and an LAV-25

Like the revised "job" for the Joes. Makes alot of sense.

I don't know if the US Army's Pandur program is going anywhere, though. It's been at least a couple of years since I've heard or read any new developments regarding its adoption. Yeah, I don't like the idea of GIJOE being redundant. They have to offer something that Delta, DEVGRU, and the 24th STS don't. Still working it out, though, hence the lack of thread updates. |

Speaking of vehicles, there's some pretty interesting information coming out about that downed helicopter in Pakistan. It really makes you wonder what those Tier-1 guys are really using.

Yeah, I've read the rumours that it was supposed to be an assault helicopter derivation of the cancelled Comanche stealth attack helicopter from several years ago.
I don't know if there are better pics out there taken from different angles, and I'm quite very possibly wrong on this, but offhand, I'd say the likeliest explanation is that instead of an all-new designed-from-the-ground-up stealth helicopter or a continuation of the RAH-66 Comanche, it's probably one of those heavily modified and stealthier MH-60 Black Hawk helicopters that the military was supposed to be developing a few years back. The tail rotor design is all wrong for a supposed Comanche derivation... the Comanche used a fenestron tail rotor design, the one in the wreckage looks to me like a BMR (bearingless main rotor; a common feature in a lot of the newer, quieter helos) design adapted for use in the tail rotor. Whatever this helicopter was,it sounds like it had some mechanical problems and crashed. It sounds like it couldn`t be salvaged,so the SEAL had to destroy it.

It's been confirmed as one of the Stealth Blackhawks.
