Snow Serpent is great.
Not as big a fan of the new CG helmet though. Love the Cobra Island reference. What size is C.O.B.R.A.?

I'm actually digging the CG helmet. Is there a way to get a close up. I can't really make out the details of it. When you originally mentioned it I thought he was getting some sort of feather boa on his head. He looks good. Snow Serpent look good too.

I haven't pinned it down yet, I'm thinking COBRA has around 1500 to 1800 employees, with around 300 of those being the Crimson Guard, VIPERs, and EELs and the rest being support personnel (your average "blueshirt", which I've yet to make an image of). Quote:

---> Zulu, I put my 2 cents in the ring for someone elses flow chart thread. Can I have your opinion on my ideas?
Presently, I only collect 25th-ME stuff, but I'm pretty familiar with RAH stuff. I can extrapolate pre-VIPers. I figure your average guy off the street starts out as a blue shirt. My 5 man squads have 1 Officer, 1 RPG trooper, 1 SAW Trooper, and 2 rifleman Troopers. Mainly because my shelves only hold 5 deep, but if parts permitted, one of the rifleman or a 6th man would be a radioman Trooper. Besides environment, any step up would be new equipment, whether it is weaponry or vehicle. Your basic blue trooper could opt for: wheeled vehicle mechanic (Cobra Flint appearance) then Stinger driver then Motor Viper then Techno Viper Viper Glider pilot then Night Vulture then Air Devil, H.I.S.S. Gunner, H.I.S.S. Gunner (Target blue H.I.S.S. driver trainee), volunteer for the Python Patrol Project or a new proficiency. or...environmental blue Officer grade squad leader Your basic blue officer could opt for: Stinger Commander F.A.N.G. pilot then Heli-Viper then Gyro Viper, H.I.S.S. Gunner (Target blue H.I.S.S. driver trainee), H.I.S.S. driver then Track Viper, then Nitro Viper, then W.O.R.M.s, volunteer for the Python Patrol Project or...environmental or a new proficiency. All pre-VIPer Officers with proper skills can transfer to environmental Officer. I have a Nightwatch squad, whose officers are ranked higher than a blue. Nightwatch troopers are higher than a blue. I have a jungle squad, whose officers are ranked higher than a blue. Jungle troopers are higher than a blue. I have a desert squad, whose officers are ranked higher than a blue. Desert troopers are higher than a blue. Desert Officers, Jungle Officers, and Nightwatch Officers are on equal footing. Same for equal special weapons troopers. Any of those infantry Troopers could get VIPer traing to be a veteran equivalent, or regular VIPer, and then wiuth more specialized training be promoted to (in alphabetical order): Alley Viper, Flak Viper, Frag Viper, H.E.A.T. Viper, Incinerator, Range Viper, Rock Viper, SAW Viper, Tele-Viper, or a new proficiency. Any Jungle trooper can get VIPer training to become a Jungle Viper. Any Desert trooper can get VIPer training to become a Desert Scorpion. Any Nightwatch trooper can get VIPer training to become a Night Viper. I believe Cobra Air Trooper, is a HALO qualified officer, and an A.V.A.C. trainee. I believe COBRA Trooper (v11) is a precursor to Frag Viper. I believe COBRA Trooper (v12) is a precursor to Incinerator. I believe COBRA Trooper (v13) is a precursor to Toxo Viper. I believe Viper (v18) is a precursor to SAW Viper. I see it along the lines with Zuludelta, if Cobra recruits veterans, those guys can almost skip to their new assignment. If a guy was a Ranger, Marine, Delta, or something, you're not gonna start him at the absolute bottom, are you? VIPers being entry level for veterans "earning" their VIPer helmet, in that way. I see Toxo-Vipers, Sludge Vipers and Swamp Vipers as demerit duty for regular VIPers. While being a Desert Scorpion is a promotion for a desert trooper with VIPer training, it is also a demit post for VIPers. Arctic H.I.S.S. drivers must complete HALO & Snow Serpent training. Water troops, go a whole sideline route. The average guy off the street, or former blue trooper, starts as a Swamp Viper (Water Moccasin crew, half land/half water training, shallow water boat skills), to Eel, and up. If a guy was a Navy S.E.A.L. based on experience or clearance, he will start as the basic red diver. Next step on path 1 goes to Eel, to Lamprey, to Sub Viper, to Aqua Viper Officer. Next step on path 2 goes to Eel, to Sea Slug, Decimator, to Secto Viper. Next step on path 3 goes to Eel, to Para-Viper, to Snow Serpent, Snow Serpent Officer, to Ice Viper. I'll do the air and space force when I have more time.

Neat ideas Octane. And yeah, I encourage you and anyone else perusing this thread to go and post your own ideas (in this thread or elsewhere), if what I post on this thread inspires you.
The basic make-up scheme for my take on COBRA is pretty simple:
Starting pay, just like in any other job, is competitively based on prior experience and the pay of similar PMCs. All other positions have no specific military experience requirements outside of those relevant to that specific job. Promotions occurs within a job, not across jobs (i.e., a "blueshirt" who works in administrative support doesn't become "promoted" to a VIPER or an EEL or a Crimson Guard or whatever, he gets a pay raise, maybe even one that puts him in the same pay grade as the VIPERs or EELs or CGs, but remains within the administrative support department). I'm trying to cut down on the "rainbow league" of Vipers that the old toyline had. For example, I don't see why there needs to be a separate uniform and title for an automatic rifleman (the "SAW-Viper") distinct from that of a "regular" rifleman outside of selling more toys (which is obviously not my concern with the project). Same thing for the "Jungle-Vipers". The Marine Corps does not issue a new unique uniform or a new job title to a marine rifleman once he graduates from their Jungle Warfare Training Center in Okinawa or finishes qualifying with a squad automatic weapon like the M249 in Basic (they don't become "jungle marines" or "SAW marines"). Similarly, I don't see why COBRA would issue a different set of duds and titles for troopers with jungle warfare training or troopers qualified in the use of squad automatic weapons (and really, if they're ex-infantry, then they're all qualified to use SAWs to some degree). It might impact starting pay, though. |

I like your well thought out list Octane. I've done a lot of thinking on that exact topic as have many of us. But I'll leave that out of Zulu's thread. The filecard thread would love to talk about it though.
Although I might switch the Decimator and the Secto-Viper. Although I think Decimator may actually be an individual rather than a type of Viper. Speaking of which, what other Viper Classes would you consider Zulu? I'm seeing some of the stuff you're working on but I'm curious which ones you think have merit as say a Range-Viper vs a SAW/HEAT/FRAG Viper? I think there are over 50 different characters with the title of Viper after their name. That's not including Eels, CG, Incinerators, etc. I suppose if COBRA is only 300 operators strong then that doesn't leave room for much in the way of other types of Vipers.

This round looks really nice, z! I'm really digging the "Heat" Viper's image in particular. I know perspective can be a challenge when you are cobbling together pre-existing images the way you do, but this one turned out really nicely. Great work!
