Thanks LL. Well, after several hours, here's the first draft of the "GIJOE bible" (83 pages all in all):
I still have to rework the flavour text for a good half of the files, maybe monkey with the formatting a bit, and I've yet to make in-document links (to give people who download the PDF the ability to jump to different sections of the document by clicking on key words and phrases... this will probably be the most time-intensive part, because I'm only using the free version of PDF XChange Viewer and can't automate the actions so I'll have to do it manually). Let me know what you guys think. Last edited by zuludelta; 07-11-2010 at 06:44 AM.. Reason: Updated link |

Z, that document is a thing of beauty. I can't wait to print it off at work tomorrow and have a nice sit down read thru. Congrats

WOW.
Like...WOW. The explanations and appendices go a *long* way towards bringing the entire project together for folks like me. I wasn't really on the lookout for errors, but I did notice Stalker is listed as HVT Team Two instead of Team One. Fantastic work, man. |

Didn't read all the way through it but that is an amazing piece of work Z. Absolutely love it.
Let me know when it's done and I will see that it gets front paged. This deserves to be seen by everyone. My one complaint is that the pictures are so small, can't really see all the detail and work that went into them.

I've been thinking of embedding links in the document to my Opera or Photobucket album, so if you click on a picture, it opens up a browser window featuring a larger version of the image (this ties into our little discussion on how digital media is changing stories over at Kitty's Pryde ). The one problem with that is not all PDF viewing software supports that kind of feature (but the most popular ones do) and some people might have that feature disabled or blocked for security reasons. What do you think? Last edited by zuludelta; 07-11-2010 at 01:17 PM.. |

I'd do it anyways. It's worth having. They are awesome and deserve/need to be seen in all their detail.

But yeah, whatever the case, it would be interesting to find out what the guys who officially work on the property think of my efforts. Not gonna lose any sleep over it, though. Anyway, here's the latest revision of the document... added a glossary, cleaned up the format some: Still needs doing: - add some more flavor text to some of the files - add links and maybe interactive fields (don't know if those will survive the upload process to Scribd, though... I think the PDF might get reformatted on the upload and interactive features like embedded links might be lost... can anybody confirm this for me?). - proofread the shit out of the thing |
