Wow Zulu, Crystal Ball is Awesome. His image and Raptor(David Bowie) is goijng to stick in my mind forever. I love the marketing aspect as it gives him a purpose in a corporate setting. As cheesy as they both were as toys I still used them. can't wait to see Big Boa. (A character I actually like)

Zulu, I found the article about MAC. It does give credit to Matt Larsen for developing the formalized program. It states that MAC is "a relatively new initiative to instruct every single soldier how to survive a street fight." It goes on to say that the Marines have been teaching martial arts for years, but the Army hadn't been doing so well, especially where support troops were concerned. Matt Larsen and Lt. Col. Stanley McChrystal were the ones responsible for starting and formalizing the new program.

The thing that sets apart MAC and MCMAP from their predecessors is that there's increased focus on disabling an enemy combatant without necessarily using potentially lethal force, which is an important feature of a taught hand-to-hand combat system if it's going to be used in a setting where Civil Affairs/CIMIC is an important concern (basically any counterinsurgency theatre). |

Inspired to do some GI Joes again after working on some non-Joes the past two weeks:
Barrel Roll & Savage Design notes:
To read their full filecards, click on the Filecard Project link in my signature. I also put together this image for one of our fellow 'tankers, mikevoltz: It's a concept based on his idea of a custom of himself (which he calls "Longshot"), which he plans to make from an RoC Bench Press figure and a 25th Anniversary Breaker (I think). It's the last out-and-out request I'll be doing for a while though, at least until I finish everything I want to make for the Filecard Project and the reference bibles. Dammit.. now I have to do cartwheels the rest of the way to Canada.
Barrel Roll came out great Zulu. Love the way you worked his pilot and sniper jobs together in a real world way. I know we've all spent pages on the Filecard thread working Barrel Roll over, under and thru trying to get it to work. Savage looks great. He has the grizzled war horse look down pat. Would War Horse be a better vehicle or person name? And Mikevoltz, I dont' want to run into you in a dark alley. Scary. Nice gun though, too.

You continue to excel, z. I thought for certain you'd have to drop some aspects of Barrel Roll's jumbled mess of a filecard, but once again, you made it work. And in the same way I thought you'd have to update Savage to make him fit, you make him into a modern military anachronism that works on so many levels.
I initially thought Longshot was Crosshair sans ghillie suit. Looks great either way. Fantastic work yet again. |

Hmmm. Off the top of my head, I'd say it's a better vehicle name... maybe in GI Joe tradition, you can make it an acronym (WARHORSE: Wheeled Armored Rover: High-risk Operations/Reconnaissance/Security Escort) Quote:

Awesome Zulu. That is the best interpretation for what Barrel Roll is. Works Perfect.
Troynos I see you earned a new title. |
