I believe this works. Giving him wings is cool, but in this world you've created, it will pass as only "funny insane" and "halloween costume". This individual you've created has a "creepy, mad, math genius" vibe. sure as heck beats a "Darth Vader Cobra Commander" Keep it up, dude. Last edited by Spigou; 08-15-2009 at 11:50 PM.. I gotta say, if Cobras desparate enough to take a guy like that, they have problems. That said, its still a vast step up from the original. Great work Zulu! |

Love Raptor. I can just see him in a meeting making bird noises, while everone else just ignores it. Oh, I saw an article in my local paper today about how Army combatives are making a comeback.

Thanks for the comments everyone. I'm surprised that Raptor engendered as many responses as he has. Always thought he was a character nobody really cared about (I never used him as Raptor as a kid... I always used him as Condorman ).
Here's another one of Cobra's eccentric (to say the least) cast of 1987: Crystal Ball Design notes:

Interesting. Do you mean that Army combative techniques are gaining popularity with the "civilian" MMA community? Not that I think the techniques are all that distinguishable in a competitive, rule-based, non-tactical setting. Once you apply "civilized" competitive rules to a supposed "free" fight, MAC (Modern Army Combatives), from a technical perspective, parallels any number of mixed martial arts forms like Vale Tudo, MCMAP, SAMBO, sanshou, kajukenbo, Inosanto kali, etc. because these systems all rely on the same philosophy of neutralizing an opponent using the most efficient combination of movements.

I believe the article (I wish I'd saved it, but I was at work) was talking about how the Army had stopped training its troops in hand to hand for a while, but it is now doing so again. It also talked about competitions between soldiers and how popular these events are.

Wow Zulu, Crystal Ball is Awesome. His image and Raptor(David Bowie) is goijng to stick in my mind forever. I love the marketing aspect as it gives him a purpose in a corporate setting. As cheesy as they both were as toys I still used them. can't wait to see Big Boa. (A character I actually like)
Those were a couple of disappointing years for Cobra (87 and 88) To me the 4 Vipers a year formula worked best. |

Now you really hit it out of the park with this one, z. I agree with LC on the 87-88 year Cobras, but I can see Boa, Croc and Zanzibar really looking a lot better under your redesigns. Nice work.

They appeared around the time when the X-Men went thru the Siege Perilous and round up in the Australian Outback Town where they met Gateway, the Reavers were using the town as a base and forcing Gateway to act as their teleporter.
