Those are sweet. I don't know where you find the time to create these. If I could, I'd spend all my waking hours devoted to compiling and expanding the GI Joe universe. What you've done here is nothing less than amazing - if only Hasbro would come out with an "authentic" line such as this! Besides creating these, do you do anything else with them?

Well, the images are part of a "reference bible" I'm writing. I don't really know what it's for, to be honest (I just woke up one day two years ago with the idea already formed in my head)... could be a resource for pen-and-paper RPG players, an alternative "Order of Battle" type thing for Joe fans who want a bit more realism and military substance to GI Joe, or, if I'm lucky, a way to get noticed by Hasbro or IDW as somebody who has some skills and knowledge that might be helpful in crafting a version of GI Joe that might resonate better with older fans

Aside from the characters military background and training, have you ever written up any bios for your versions of these characters?

I'm still currently working on those. The majority of them will just be paraphrased versions of the "flavour text" that came with the Larry Hama written filecards, but for a number of the major players, I'll be writing all-new histories that hopefully capture the spirit of Hama's writing (I'd already posted the one I'd written for Joe Colton a page or three back).

Thanks.
I'm trying to reintegrate Ninja Force (although I won't be calling them such). They'll be part of a platoon sized protective services detail I'll be assigning to the headquarters. Here's the first of the revisions: Cabang and Nunchuk Design notes:

Like Chabang alot.
Like the idea of using them as Protective Services. It makes sense with their "silent weapons" and martial arts backgrounds. A martial artist with a gun is probably the best bodyguard.

Nunchuk looks nice. I'm cool with the switch over to protective services of the Ninja Force guys and the overall concept and background of Cabang is neat. The image itself isn't one of your stronges, howevert. The feet and forearms are a tag big and the image quality is uneven. That said, the design work looks good (although I might bring the shades back from the last version).
Who's going to take all those admin positions? As for Chris John, I'd say he's more of a multi-martial-artist than a mixed-martial-artist (unless he was busting out 360 butterfly kicks in the middle of his boxing bouts). ;) |
