I guess for me Copperhead, as a toy, is the biggest ARAH figure until Roadpig. I sort of always viewed him on par with Gung-Ho although I don't remember them ever fighting, I see the two of them as Top 10 in overall size.
Yeah Cobra doesn't need to maintain a fleet, or crew for anything. I sort of picture African bush pilots. Their planes are sort of hobbled together, taking off from dirt tracks. Using older equipment that still runs. Wild Weasel is the only pilot you're making I presume, so it really doesn't matter who Wild Weasel works for. Or does it? I guess Wild Weasel could work for Aviation Worldwide, or some other Cargo carrier. UPS Air? I wonder if UPS pilots have to wear the brown shorts? |

I'd like to think of him as being a "well-known secret" within the mercenary community. A free agent who goes from one short-term contract to another, whether it's for Cobra Command, Blackwater/Xe, the Russian mafiyah, the Yakuza, the Sicilian mafia, various state intelligence agencies, etc. He doesn't need to permanently affiliate himself with one company or agency because contract officers stumble all over themselves just to line up for his services. His reputation is that good. Sort of like the pilot version of Firefly.

Thanks for looking! The only think I can think to add to any of them, is the pink frilly garter belt that Cool Breeze had on his bicep. For some reason, that one little detail completely sold me on the character. |

Thanks! You're a Cool Breeze fan, I assume? I'll have to go back and dig up reference material for that thing you're referring to, I can't remember what it looked like.

I remember what he's talking about. It was a pink gartar belt. He had that on his arm, along with these metal sleeve things.

I like the sound of that. Wild Weasel is a favorite of mine. Would someone like that need a hanger or maintenance crews? Or would he just rent space somewhere? I could see him making enough per contract to support 4-5 man maintence crew. Would someone like that be running drugs too? I once heard of a guys dad who did that back in the 80s.
And oh yeah, transporting narcotics wouldn't be beneath a guy like Wild Weasel, I think. Actually, I imagine it's his bread-and-butter, there's probably more demand for an experienced bush pilot in the smuggling business than in the PMC industry. |

In my head, I imagine him working solo, hooking up with part-time maintenance crews every now and then. That way he doesn't need to worry about OPSEC. He could have a low-cost, low-maintenance propeller-driven plane (like a Cessna O-2 Skymaster or Embraer EMB 314 Super Tucano) similar to what they use in counterinsurgency/counternarcotics operations in Central and South America housed in a private hangar somewhere. I know some mercenary/PMC companies use the Super Tucano for training and actual operations.

I'd think a contractor like Wild Weasel would have his own full time staff. People that he trusted to get the plane and keep it in working order. Because he's with different employers, all involved in illegal things, trust would be a big issue for him and the fear of betrayal would be HUGE so he wouldn't want just anyone working on the things that keep him alive and paid.

I don't know how many of you guys on here are interested in contemporary military heraldry, I'm pretty keen on the subject myself. Anyway, here's my take on the M.A.R.S. cap badge:
M.A.R.S. cap badge Design notes:
My use of that phrase was inspired by the original Destro filecard written by Larry Hama, where he writes that "to Destro, war is man's most natural state... " Anyway, that's enough nerdity for today |
