From 1986, Serpentor:
There are several varieties of Serpentor costumes to choose from. The most iconic are the original uniform and the more plate-armored Devil's Due style. I went for the more traditional, combining ARAH elements from the neck to the beltline, but with 25th anniversary style legs. The helmet is not as decorative as the original version, but not as sleek as the Devil's Due version. I also added ruby eyes to the "snake heads", wherever they're sculpted into the costume. Likewise, the "teeth" of the snake heads are colored as stainless steel. Last edited by Clockwise; 03-01-2019 at 08:54 AM.. |

Thanks!
It's colored in Photoshop. I usually flip the image after I scan it, which makes it easier to see little errors that need to be addressed. In this case, I had to stretch and reshape the feet. After the black and white image is as good as it can get, I start on the coloring. My technique for coloring is pretty simple, usually done in layers and in this order: *The "flats" are the basic color shapes (think of the red cape and blue tights of Superman). *texture is added to most areas. If you look at Serpentor's skin closely, you'll notice that it's not a flat skin tone, but rather slightly mottled. *Light source added, usually to the edges, especially on top. Then a few areas that have to have light on them, like cheekbones. *Shadows added. *High shine areas added on top of everything else. The sparkle on the snake teeth and eyes are the high shine areas on this artwork. *The image is flipped back to its original left/right positioning. |

Keep up the good work! I may not always say so, but I enjoy your artwork a lot.
