I really like the drawing and rendering on this. Very cool. The details in the drawing and the subtlety in the rendering are quite nice.
A few suggestions: Remove or adjust the dark black holding line around Scarlett. It's a bit too harsh compared to the rendering style. Maybe consider changing the background color to green. It's a good compliment to the warm colors used on Scarlett and will make her pop more. Right now she melts into the background. Changing the background to green also eliminates the need for the already mentioned black holding line. Again, very nice work. Keep 'em coming! EDIT: Here's a very quick rough sample of what I was suggesting: Last edited by timshinn73; 04-03-2011 at 11:17 AM.. |

I can see what you're going for but I think this piece would benefit from thicker contour lines overall, and inked lines on the body. The intricate detail lines and whatnot are washed out by the color. Looks good but would look better with what I mentioned above. You never want the colors to compromise the integrity of your linework.

That's just showing off, Wry.
F***ing awesome. Di you know that this s.o.b. is a) Self thaught b) Daltonic* there goes my years of studiying! I think the opposite. The effect is on purpose, and it's a modern style of coloring. IDW uses it a lot on covers. In this particular case, it stands out because Wry uses a slightly different style which is cool. *sounds like Dial tone! Main focus here was to play around with different colors and styles which is my biggest weakness cuz...as you said, I'm colorblind. Quote:
Ha! Yeah...as soon as I figure it out I'll let ya know. Quote:

Brother,
I love your work! I currently have your Flint/Lady Jaye piece donning my screen saver. The only thing I can do without on Scarlett (and on the Baroness) is the battle damage. These girls are so DAMN SEXY but when I see the blood and open wounds...well, that's just me, I don't get down that way. lol But still, your work is just so beautiful and clean. I always wait in anticipation for the next one. No, no good sir, you're awesome. Lol! Right on dude. Quote:
Thanks! A. Loves me my joeho's. B. Heck yes. Quote:
One of my heroes, dude is beyond epic. Quote:

Ah, I see. To be honest, I'd have never guessed you were colorblind. I like the color palette on this a lot.

Perfect. I've stared at this for awhile on two visits to this thread and still like every choice you made. Your instincts have proven themselves in the finished art.
You know you're in a good place when folks are debating the aesthetic choices you've made as opposed to the nuts & bolts of the drawing. |
