Just wondering cause I just sold to a guy in Italy for the first time and this has been my ONLY problem selling on eBay since I started in 2002.(my feedback is 500 all positive, no negs or neuts)
I have seen MANY sellers say they don't ship to Italy for many years now but I thought I'd be safe...I'm wrong. I have changed my shipping policy, NO MORE TO ITALY ! ! ! ... ...I suggest everyone else do the same. Anyone else ?

I ship Internationally a lot. I've had 2 pakages "lost" in Italy. They were most likely stolen. The Postal system is pretty bad there from what I have heard. It is no worse then shipping to South or Central America though (that is where I've had the most problems).

Thanks !
I'll cross those off my list as well. I've shipped a lot and had no problems with U.K., Germany & Japan.

As a member who lived in Italy, I can say that your theory is about to be debunked (sorry!). Your package wasn't lost, it was probably thrown right in the trash by Customs. Italy & Peru have VERY STRICT guidelines in regards to shipping toys in to the country. They will not allow toys, PERIOD. When sending items to my cousins, I would have to write stuff like "wooden doll" on the customs form just to get teh package to them. Now, I don't even bother, because I know it will never reach them. Unfortunately, your package was more than likely returned by Italy to the U.S., and never made it back to you, as you didn't check the "if unclaimed, return to sender (cost involved)" box. |

I just avoid any hassle, and just ship to the US... 100% easier that way.

If I recall correctly, it has something to do with safety regulations (?) They're super friggin' anal. I'm trying to find the actual "paperwork" from the USPS. Once I find it, I'll post it here! |

Nope, 1 of those packages was for sure lost or stolen. Tracking doesn't just stop. The package just fell off the face of the earth after CLEARING customs. And neither of the items "lost" were toys... they were Precious Moments. To be fair though, the second package could have been delivered but the seller lied (I didn't have tracking on that one and the buyer seemed kind of slimy after a few emails back and forth). As for toys to Italy I've shipped there a few times and everything has made it, but toys are usually so light you don't need a customs form (so maybe they go under the radar). Several countries in South and Central America are really bad to ship to (I've stopped completely). I've had buyers tell me that postal workers ask for a bribe if the package is worth a lot, that boxes will get opened and delivered empty (or with stuff missing). I used to have buyers request Express mail even when it is insanely expensive just because they don't trust their own postal system. |

So this guy is demanding ALL(including shipping) his money back even though I sent him a copy of the insurance form which proves I sent it...because the insurance claim has taken 7 days ...so far.
He says he'll leave me neg. cause it's taking too long. Why didn't I listen to the thousands of other eBayers and just say "F^CK ITALY" WHY...why why why why why ? ? ? ? ? Well, goodbye 500 (100% POSITIVE) feedback. If anyone reading this still ships to Italy...don't be stupid like me.
