This may have been covered a while ago but here it is anyway...
I was cruising ebay the other day and got really disgusted by something and I wasnt sure if I really had reason to get upset. I'm going to substitute the details these auctions as I have no reason to call the seller out but want to tell this story. This seller was selling a Vintage Mauler tank. It was only missing the figure, and antennas/exhaust ports. It was set at a decent price no big deal. In his other auction was the complete set of Mauler antennas/exhaust ports for a little bit more than average price... and in his next auction was Heavy Metal with mic for a bit more than anyone should pay. I had no proof these were all originally boxed together but had the same play wear. I guess it's the American way to earn as much money for your stuff as possible it's just a shame that a toy has survived 25+ years out of the box and many battles only to be carved up for profit. IMO a vintage Joe toy that is all original out of the box is more of a treasure than one that has been pieced together. It's nothing new for Joes to get stripped of their gear and vehilces of their accessories for resale but to take apart a perfectly complete one stinks and I usually pass on sellers that I see blatantly breaking things up. Now if condition warrants breaking it up I can understand but if you carried a weapon or drove a vehicle for 25 years you would want to keep it! At least it was combined shipping...That's my pet peeve for the day. What do you think, avoid, don't matter, pass? |

Yeah, I tend to not buy those type of carved up items on ebay. I usually only purchase items if they're listed as 100% complete. It's just a headache.

I don't care if they carve it up.
I dug my Moray out of storage the other day and only need a few pieces. I'll buy them from a carver or whom ever if the price is right. |

eh, it's just the nature of the beast. You can sell a complete vehicle and only get one price, but if you break it up and part it out, you can usually get more for it than you would complete.

no big deal if you dont want to pay the prices for the complete toy pass and someone else most likely will.

Yeah, I'm kinda looking for one now and I don't give a shit about having the original Heavy Metal figure. I've replaced all my vintage ARAH figures with 25th/ME anyway. As far as vintage vehicles I want, I don't care if they're 100% or not as long as something really obvious isn't missing or broken.

I want a Piranha to fight my Devil Fish. I bought a missile for it the other day because I lost one as a kid. I'm a little upset to discover my ME Dreadnoks don't fit in the Dreadnok cycle. |

I'll probably just end up posing the figure beside the vehicle on a shelf anyway. Or do a little mini-diorama with a vehicle and a few figures. |
