500$(reserve not met) for a piece of cardboard?
Well you have collectors, then you have people like me. I skipped on yellow Stalker, black headed Destro, etc.
I buy what I like, simple as that. I'm not a completist who needs ultra rare items.
But I think this playset was the precursor to many army building addictions. Look, two nearly indentical Cobra troopers/soldiers.
But to whoever is buying this, enjoy it!

I would do it...for anyone the whole collecting for monetary gain needs to go away forever.
Collecting should be fun and passed on to other generations to enjoy.
The time has come for the Cobra to rise up and reveal himself. You will call me... Commander!

Three years ago I overpayed by a little more than $100 for an AFA 80 Yoda on an ESB cardback - first issue of the figure to boot. The figure was MOC and the card had the price tag still attached. The seller doubted I would pay for it and when I did (immediately after auction) he asked if the figure was important to me.
The price tag was from a store that my Dad had worked at as a second job, aside from teaching, when my family did not have a lot of money. I had been sick on my birthday when the figure was first released and my Dad brought that figure home to me. My Dad never spoiled us nor really bought presents. Mom did that. The figure had a lot of meaning to me and made me recall quite a few memories of my Dad giving me the figure.
This figure was an exact duplicate, price sticker and all, of the figure that my father had given to me as a birthday gift. There was no dollar amount that could have been attached to that figure. I would have easily payed an additional $100 on top of that.
As I sell of my things to raise money to buy a house that is one of the items that is simply not for sale. That and the DiMaggio baseball.
Remember that things are only worth what people are willing to pay. I see a lot of joe items that some of you would drool over at half of what they are offered that I simply pass on because it does not seem worth it.
Value is in the eye of the consumer.

when i first seen this item on ebay after i started collecting again, i was amazed by how much people were willing to pay for it because it is after all just a piece of cardboard. but as i started buying more stuff, it occured to me that i was buying joes because i really think gijoes are awsome but also because they have so much sentimental meaning to me. theres figures i have that ive overpaid on but i paid it because of the condition there in and they remind me of a great time in my life. so its all what its worth to you as a collector weather you think its pointless to pay that amount or not. thats what collecting is all about is enjoying yourself. so i dont think its dumb at all.

Not the original American Constitution?
Not the original Dead Sea Scrolls?
